Let’s talk about The Utilities. Okay so it's taken me too long to get this all together but the best things always take time and the pandemic really gave me that time. Time to slow down and think, time to make space for something new and time to just live outside of this space. In the beginning when I had a small market table of knits and a big idea of knitting amazing knit hats for everyone everywhere I quickly realized not everyone needed a hat all the time. I started to se...w aprons as a second product but it never fit as a second product to the knitting. So I kept it separate and had to explain the story every time people connected the two shops back to me. Fast forward many years and a new site I decided to throw in the towel and put all my little sewn product into one spot and build it out a little bit more. So here is my latest product for The Utilities, the Pleated linen mask. Originally designed for the gentlemen in our households that need a bit more room in their mask for beards or a wider face shape. We used the same linen as the Contour mask for a polished clean finish. I thought it was time to update the feed a little bit I haven't been taking many photos lately and to be honest, I started to get really overwhelmed with keeping up with taking pictures and writing captions. I think the pandemic has been getting to me a little more this year and I’ve been leaning into my creative outlets to bring myself a little more joy in each day. I also recently started cold calling some close friends. It was a small nudge in my heart to want to connect ...with people that I would normally plan to visit in person. I have had these memories of me as a teenager blocking up my parents land line with talking on the phone or getting a call from a friend and not knowing who it was. I remember being so excited and taking for hours. I remember when we FINALLY got call waiting and family members could finally get to my parents...lol. I wanted to do exactly that, surprise someone just because and chat about anything even just for a few minutes. If you have gotten a call from my lately this is why. Happy Valentine’s Day! I love this day I always have, but probably not in the same way everyone else does. I love the bright reds, pinks, and purples that emerge from this day and I love love in every way. I don’t like that this is such a couples only day... cause it’s soooo not. Why can’t we buy flowers for our best friends.? Why can’t we buy chocolate and surprise your aunt? why can’t we donate Valentine’s to hospitals just because? Why is this day ONLY marketed for coup...les!!?! I have never held back on this day and I don’t think I will stop I love seeing people light up with a surprise not only on this day but everyday and it’s truly a gift to make someone smile :) I will miss making these flowers for you this year but I recorded a tutorial to make them would anyone be interested? Happy Lunar New Year! It’s a special new year for me, not only is it CNY but it’s also my birthday AND it’s also my zodiac year!! A special coincidence that happens never! I thought about what I could do to celebrate but nothing seemed to be feasible with the current environment. So today will be spent celebrating with delicious New Years foods and a beautiful cake. I was hoping my birthday treat to myself would arrive today but not yet.
