House of Wonders

House of Wonders is a new low-cost recording space in Winnipeg. It’s based on the idea that spending more time per song in a modest room with an inventive producer is a better investment than spending all your money to rush through things at a full-luxury studio you can’t really afford. It happens too often: artists scrounge up every last dollar to book time at an expensive studio and end up having to scramble just to do the bare minimum - ultimately ending up with hi-fi rend...erings of every sloppy detail. At House of Wonders, the focus is on making vibey recordings by working methodically on arrangement, tones, performance, editing - the things that make your songs the best they can be. Adam Fuhr (Yes We Mystic) and his recording space are becoming known for attention to detail and sonic creativity. Here’s a shot from the recording of JayWood forthcoming EP (out on Captured Tracks and Royal Mountain Records) from last January! The project was to re-record from scratch an EP that Jeremy had written and recorded on GarageBand in 2015 - my job was to produce and engineer in a way that didn’t stray too far from the original vision but still felt like a clean, modern take on the songs. It was such a fucking blast, every moment! Some real magic in the studio, and Jeremy is one... of the best guitarists I know...
