This is Gisele’s smile at the end of a 50k season soaker virtual run yesterday. Congrats Gisele and to Sheila who also completed this challenge a few weeks ago. Sheila kept Gisele company yesterday at the end of her race. Both these ladies are champs. An inspiration to many.

NEVER MISS A MONDAY! It was a grinder of a morning for our early Zoom cycling class .... IF IT DOESNY CHALLENGE YOU, IT DOESNT CHANGE YOU! ... Big Gear/Low Cadence work all the way!!! Here are a couple of comments I received: "THAT SUCKED" "HOLY DRIPPING SWEAT" "SWEARING LOL" Laura Turnbull said it best - WORK HARD - PLAY HARD - RELAX LIKE A CHAMP .... REPEAT DAILY! Next Class - Wed morning @ 6:30AM Always room for more. Contact me if you want to be included in this party!!!!

Thursday morning 7AM Zoom Cycle. No better way to rev up your motors and start the day with a spark!

Howe2Train 17.07.2020

Itching to get back to Group Cycling? Since Covid 19 began controlling our lives, I have been running my Cycling classes virtually using Zoom. A very convenient program that you can use with your computer, cell phone or tablet. 3 classes per week - next one scheduled for Sat morning, April 4th at 8AM. One thing we have all realized over the last few weeks is how important human interaction is in our lives. Thanks to technology, there are ways to enrich our lives that all...ow us to connect with each other and continue our normal active lifestyle. This virtual way of group cycling is the closest we can get to duplicating a group environment. Everyone is together working a structured set with the ability to interact as if we were all in the same room. A perfect alternative! In fact, there have been comments within the group that perhaps we should keep it this way always regardless of social distancing requirements! So if you are tired of cycling solo, bored with the robotic feel of Zwift and the other online smart trainer driven options, reach out. One thing about virtual group training, the class is never full! As an add-on to group cycling sets, there is an ongoing Core Strength Program where you receive a new set each day. So no excuses not to MOVE each and every day! If you are interested in joining us, email [email protected] Where theres a will, theres a way!

Reminder that this Sat is cycling TEST DAY so Friday should be a day off the legs. Plan to arrive a little earlier than usual to give yourself enough time to get properly set-up.

Just one more reason to join an indoor cycling group. On that note, I have space in my Sat morning and Wed evening classes. To make it even more appealing, your bikes and trainers can stay. Cant make it much easier than that!!!! Contact darlene@howe2train for more information!!!... https://www.bicycling.com//indoor-cycling-slows-early-pa/

The wounded warriors! Glenda with two torn finger ligaments and me with my recovering wrist = a great trainer ride together. Back in the saddle and loving it

Howe2Train 02.04.2020

Words of wisdom that I stumbled upon today that I will keep top of mind as I take on Ironman Ireland on Sunday. Pressure only exists if you are concerned about the outcome. Train your mind to stay in the present and let the outcome take care of itself. Ensure you have good training preparation leading up to competition. Learn to practice at the same level you compete at.... Practice focusing on the right thing at the right time, regardless of what is going on around you. Never, ever give in. Maintain commitment and desire in the face of adversity. See more

Life shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage. Anais Nin Often when people know you are training for a race, you will hear comments of support (strong, fast, talented etc.) from friends. I think the biggest characteristic of athletes who sign up for big races is COURAGE! It takes a lot of courage to commit to the training and then toe the line on race day. Races are fun but the lead up to races is often accompanied with a little fear, a little stress and a lo...t of nervous energy. On that note, hats off to both Julie Ibbott and Ann McLuskie who both had the courage to sign up for and recently raced a Half Marathon in Vancouver. These ladies are not new to racing longer distances however, it has been a few years. So, needless to say, there are always a few fears of the work that needs to happen to get ready. These ladies rocked their training all winter long and had stellar races in Vancouver. Their smiles at the end says it all! And now, onto the next challenge .... Congrats Julie and Ann!

The TI Gran Fondo is a great supported ride event that a big group of us have participated in for a few years now. This years event has a craft beer sponsor - so the finish line party will linger a little longer. Come join us on Sept. 15th. There is a distance to suit all abilities. To save a few $$$, use code darlenesgroup. ... http://www.tigranfondo.com/

Howe2Train 07.03.2020

Another long training day in the books Sat. The weather has been a bit challenging for training this spring . Headed out Friday to do this set and packed it in after 2 hrs - way too cold. Sat. I was in the mindset of BEING STUBBORN ABOUT MY GOALS AND FLEXIBLE ABOUT MY METHODS" .... so, I mixed it up a little to get it done. Started off with a 2 hr trainer ride with the pleasure of Royn Roy and Glenda Baker company and then headed outdoors to finish up the 6 hr set once it warmed up a tad. Once again, Roberta Cirelli joined me for the last 90 mins of my bike AND the decided to run with me off the bike. It was another awesomely windy and cold training day. One week closer to Ironman Ireland

Howe2Train 11.02.2020

First big outdoor volume training day for Ironman Ireland. Had this chickie join me for my last 80 mins. Notice the twin-sies jackets. A gift from Roberta after her stellar performance at IMMT last year. Also big shout out to Colin Morrison who also joined me today and kicked my ass for 4 hrs It was a cold, little wet, little windy, Garden Hill hilly kinda awesome day :).

The 2019 RACE SEASON has officially kicked off. Congratulations to Jim Mayers who battled the heat and humidity in the Olympic distance Clermont Triathlon on Sat. War wounds only make crossing the finish line that much sweeter! High-Fives also going out to Betty Sellars who teamed up with family members to celebrate her Irish Roots with the 5K St. Paddys Day race in Toronto.... Smiles all around!!! Nothing like celebrating fitness and sport like an early season race. Jim Mayers Betty Sellars
