This week we recognize the milestone of one-year since the COVID-19 pandemic changed our lives. Howick Mutual would like to say Thank You to all the community organizations that have persevered and continued to enrich the lives of others in these difficult and unprecedented times. In 2020, Howick Mutual identified an increased need in our communities and created the COVID-19 Community Support Fund. Through this initiative, we were able to identify 33 not for profit or charitable organizations that provide services to people in the community and donated over $100,000 to help them continue on with their excellent work. We are grateful for them, and the volunteers and staff that have put themselves on the front line. Together we will get through this!

Flood Watch Issued for Morris-Turnberry, North Huron and Howick The recent warm temperatures have depleted much of the snow pack in the northern sections of the... Maitand watershed. Due to the resulting run-off, a flood watch is being issued for the Municipality of Morris-Turnberry, Township of North Huron and Township of Howick. Municipal officials have been asked to monitor low lying areas for potential flooding including: Morris-Turnberry: Turnberry St. and Helena St., Wingham North Huron: Scott St. at Josephine St., Wingham Farley Lane and David St., Wingham Low lying areas at the Victoria St. bridge, Wingham Potential ponding of water in low lying areas between Scott St. and Amberley Rd. (Highway 86), Wingham Howick: Low lying areas along Victoria St. near the river There is some uncertainly on the timing of potential flooding but it is expected to impact these areas between mid-morning and later in the afternoon on Friday. Residents are reminded to use extreme caution near all watercourses and flooded areas. Never attempt to drive through flood waters. Maitland Conservation staff will be closely monitoring the situation over the next 48 hours and will provide an update if conditions change. This message will remain in place until 4:00 pm on Saturday March 13, 2021. See more

What a great week of virtual learning! Though we missed seeing everyone in person, Howick Mutual, along with CMR Insurance Brokers, was proud to support Grey Bruce Farmer's Week and enjoyed being part of the virtual trade show each day. Thank you to the committee and everyone involved in making #GBFW21 a continued success. We are already looking forward to next year!

On the evening of Saturday December 5th, we travelled to Formosa to check out "Formosa Country Christmas". If you haven't seen the incredible light display yet, we recommend you head over tonight (Sunday Dec 6th) - it's your last opportunity to support their efforts.
