On September 21st 2019, myself and fellow photographer, Josef Hartung got to be part of something really special here in our province. The 2019 Lieutenant Governor of Alberta Arts Awards were held in Maskwacis, AB, a first in history to be held on a reserve. Three Albertans were honoured for their love and dedication to their craft, and speakers throughout the day included Jenny Belzberg, founder of the Lieutenant Governor of Alberta Awards Foundation, Her Honour Lois E. Mit...chell, Chief Vern Saddleback of the Samson Cree First Nation, Willie Littlechild, and Co-Chairs of the Battle River Arts Group: Jane Ross and Roy Louis.
