Happy Spring Break to our At-Home Learning families. We would like to thank all of our parents and guardians today for connecting with us throughout the school year, being at-home supervisors supporting your children’s learning, and collaborating with teachers in new ways to ensure a continuity of learning for students affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. A big shout out to your children for their courage in navigating new platforms and showing their commitment to lifelong learning. We hope you all have an amazing Spring Break, and are sending thoughts of wellness and happiness out to each of our families. At-Home Learning classes resume on April 12, 2021.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION for all our Grade 4, 7 & 10 at-home learning families: Please consider taking the time to fill in the Alberta Education Assurance Survey when it arrives. The information collected helps our school and division to understand what is working and where improvement can be made to better the experience for all students.

Grade 1 at-home learners were courageous today as they once again came face to face with the Mad Math Villain in Mr. Smith's Grade 1 virtual classroom. In a stunning turn of events, our Google Meeting technology seems to have revealed the Villain's true identity as Principal Smith of Joussard School. Today's Math duel ended in a draw, and I doubt this will be the last the Grade 1 students see of the Mad Math Villain!
BE THE REASON SOMEONE SMILES TODAY! We have to give a big shoutout to our Grade 6 class today and their contributions to Mrs. Murphy's virtual 'Smile Box,' which is going to be featured in the next issue of ATA Magazine. Mrs. Murphy shifted to at-home learning this year to support HPSD's Grade 6 students that stayed home due to the Covid-19 pandemic. As an in-person teacher, she had a 'Smile Box' in her classroom where students could leave uplifting notes to others in the cl...ass and they would share the notes each Friday, which also led to some storytelling. Since converting to At-Home Learning with the High Prairie School Division, Mrs. Murphy turned a Google Classroom into a virtual 'Smile Box where students leave presentations, videos, family pictures, songs, drawings and other 'smiles' throughout the school year, strengthening classroom relationships and culture. Even some students that returned to in-person school during our quarterly transitions have remained connected to Mrs. Murphy's virtual 'Smile Box.' Thanks for spreading kindness Grade 6!!!! We are proud of you!
Each student had their own unique take on the 'Eyes: Windows to the Soul' Grade 6 Virtual Art Session with Mrs. Murphy.
If you need some addition done in your neighbourhood, who you gonna call? Well, Mr. Smith's Grade 1 Super Math Heroes of course.

The annual Moose Hide Campaign is a grassroots movement of Indigenous and non-Indigenous men and boys who are standing up against violence towards women and children. Wearing the moose hide signifies your commitment to honour, respect, protecting the women and children in your life and to work together to end violence against women and children. The Moose Hide Campaign day falls on February 11, with a number of virtual events taking place. On Thursday, the co-founder of the c...ampaign, Raven Lacerte is speaking to HPSD staff and students, as we hope to raise awareness and encourage participation in the upcoming events, including keynote speakers and workshops. https://moosehidecampaign.ca/ #ENDviolence
We're wishing a great learning day to all At-Home Learning students, with a special shoutout to Ms. Chill's junior and senior ELA students as they engage with the Vancouver Holocaust Education Centre on a virtual field trip and workshop linked to recent class readings. Tomorrow these students will also have the opportunity to experience a candid talk with a Holocaust survivor through this partnership.
