Explore your property each day and record your findings in a notebook. Have you noticed things start to change now that spring has arrived? Do you see plants starting to pop up in your garden? How about buds growing on trees? Perhaps you see and hear more animals like birds, rabbits, and squirrels all throughout your yard. Once summer is here, you can review your findings to see how fast things changed.

Quinte Conservation is happy to help connect you with nature and we’re here to remind you that the responsible use of conservation areas plays an important factor in keeping these properties open for passive use during the COVID-19 Pandemic. We must all do our part to ensure public safety and to help slow the spread of this virus. We have conservation areas throughout 3 regions (Moira, Napanee, and Prince Edward County) and you can find one close to you when you visit us onl...ine at https://bit.ly/1mSKlR2 Please remember, all regular conservation area rules are still in effect, including: all pets must be leashed and cleaned up after, and leaving/dumping garbage, fires of any kind, and the use of motorized vehicles on trails is strictly prohibited. Frame It: Find four sticks that you can use as your frame. Find a place in your yard to place the sticks to create a square. What do you see? *Are there ants or other bugs crawling about within the frame? *Are there any plants sprouting through the soil? *How many different colours can you see? ... *Can you find 4 different shapes? *Look for evidence of animal life within your frame. *Look and feel for something soft, something hard, and something fuzzy. Listen for the Spring Peeper: Listen for frogs at dusk from your yard. How many do you hear? Do they make different sounds? For those of you that live near water, listen for the Spring Peeper - they are calling to you from ponds and wetlands.
