Great book if you haven't read it

Have you ever felt like can we just skip Christmas? What makes the holidays so stressful that people just want to skip it? And doesn’t that defeat the entire ...purpose of the holidays? Here in the US, we've made the Christmas holiday a whirlwind of perfectionistic consumerism. We have to buy all of the things and create perfect memories that likely break our financial and TIME budget and heap on even more stress. Did you even KNOW you have a time budget? I used to feel exactly like this To hell with it! It's all too stressful! Let's just skip it this year! Then 5 years ago, I got cancer. Doing it all wasn’t an option. We scaled the family and friend expectations way back. We switched from a big fancy Christmas dinner to a casual brunch. You can pre-prepare a LOT of brunch foods so much less stressful. We only attend 2 parties each work parties plus one friend’s party together. This year, we won’t attend any parties because safety and health. We still bake holiday cookies, but far fewer and our daughter has a friend over. The flour flies in the kitchen and they have so much fun. We decorate one Christmas tree instead of three. We don’t wrap the presents. A local teen does. Seriously this alone will change your life. And you’re giving a great opportunity for a teen to earn a little dough at the holidays. Win-win. Next time I’ll let you know what we do with all of that free time. I’ll give you a hint we now have a meaningful and low stress holiday. You can too.
