Today, our NICU staff are marking World Prematurity Day by wearing purple masks and clothes. This awareness day is represented by the colour purple, and the socks line which features a small pair of purple socks framed by nine full-sized pairs of baby socks symbolizing the 1 in 10 babies born prematurely worldwide. For career day at school yesterday, six-year-old Pacey insisted on dressing up as a surgeon because he absolutely LOVES his medical team at the HSC Children's Hospital. "I know these times are so difficult. I just wanted to share this to hopefully put a smile on our health-care workers who are working so hard! They have saved our son's life more than once... sharing some love is the very least we can do," said his mom, Kimberly.
