Self-care allows you to serve others and allows you to show up for the world, for your life, for your purpose. So, it's really important that you take that ...on board, especially if you're someone who's brilliant at caring for others, brilliant at giving to others. Life is not going to be very patient with us when it comes to us taking charge of our own self-care and making sure that we're learning how to reset our nervous system, learning how to feel joy. But actually, actively practicing these things is going to be what will make all the difference in the coming years where your consciousness, your ability to create your life and your general sense of wellbeing in your energy field are concerned. - From February 2021 Energy Update Watch the full Energy Update here: https://www.leeharrisenergy.com/february-2021-energy-update See more

SKULL TENSEGRITY The skull is often described as a fused bony dome, fixed in its shape and immobile. However, the skull is comprised of individual cranial bon...es that are connected to each other via specialized joints called cranial sutures with sutural ligament tissue within them (Pic 1-3). As with any observation of the body when the specimen is deceased, the common conclusion is the sutures are fused and the cranial bones are cemented together. If one looks at the micro-anatomy of the living sutures, they can see a collagen matrix, arterioles, micro veins and nerve branches as well as mechanoreceptors. This would all indicate the sutures are a living space between the bones. As for the links, the sutures also have direct fascial connection to the dura mater (inner-skull layering of the brain and spinal cord, Pic 4,5) via epithelial-mesenchymal transition zones. This means any changes to the cranial bones and sutures will have an effect on the dura mater (and the meninges, which are deeper and closer to the brain). Dura mater is continuous through the whole spinal cord and to the sacrum. One can visualize this phenomenon as the driver of positive changes in cranial manual therapies or more violently, in negative changes after a concussion. When the skull is compressed with normal forces, it behaves like all other tensegrity structures. Specifically, the tension elements, including sutures and dura mater collagen, help to dissipate the forces and actually work to expand the cranial vault. Pretty amazing observations for an area many believe is fused. See G. Scarr’s article in the Journal of Osteopathic Medicine for more details (Pic 6,7). November is Diabetes Awareness Month. . According to Diabetes Canada, one in three Canadians has diabetes* or prediabetes, and those at age 20 now face a 50 pe...r cent chance of developing the disease. . In addition to benefits such as increasing circulation and reducing tension, some smaller research studies have shown reflexology therapy to be effective in reducing the neuropathic pain and improving quality of life from patients suffering from diabetic neuropathy. . Do your shoulders hurt if you sleep on your side? With this, I commonly find dysfunctions of the ligaments joining the ribs and sternum. For a DIY correction, try laying on a foam roller (lengthwise) and practice chest breathing to open up these joints.

When we’re traumatized we head straight for the comfort foods. There’s a reason for it. It lowers the level of our stress hormones immediately, increases the le...vels of dopamine and serotonin, and increases endorphins. It’s momentary schedule. The problem is, that after a while, all of those effects get reversed. At a certain point, it becomes necessary to reverse the dietary choices to help ease trauma. Jim Gordon says, we need to practice more mindful eating: Eating slowly and paying attention to how things taste, and focusing on your food choices. We want to nourish the microbiome as it’s affected by the stress of trauma, which is why it’s important to include fermented foods and probiotics. Focusing on including seafood and supplementary omega-3s and fish oil because it’s important for brain healing and gut healing. Fiber feeds the microbiome which then stimulates the Vegas nerve that makes sure the brain functions properly. Fiber can be found in all vegetables. Include anti-inflammatory spices like turmeric that helps to bring down inflammation in the body which is a response the body experiences when dealing with trauma. Also, a multi-vitamin is essential. Most recently, there was a study done in New Zealand after the earthquake. It was a randomized control trial using a multivitamin versus a placebo for people who had been through the earthquake was found to have helped reduce the symptoms of PTSD. They were less anxious and were able to focus better. To learn more about this, listen to my episode of The Doctor’s Farmacy with @drjamesgordon See more

#healing All layers are involved and we cannot heal and move through one layer without the consideration of all the other layers at play. So often, the physical pain people present within my clinic, is rooted in their emotional, mental and/or psychological trauma or pain. Most times they did not even realize it. I've experienced this myself, many times. All systems are greatly connected and work within each other. The body is such an incredibly fascinating work of art.

The collective energy right now is one of fear, confusion, + chaos. Can you feel it? Healing is waking up. It’s leaving the autopilot, sleep walking state we’ve... been conditioned to exist within. Healing allows us to connect to our intuition, our true knowing. Our heart. Healing allows us to think for ourselves. To stop outsourcing our thought process. To speak out truth regardless of those intent on misunderstanding that truth. It can be lonely. In a society where cultural norms are manifestations of trauma, this is the work of true warriors. I see all of you doing this work. Stay the path. You’re worth it. Which resonates with you most? #selfhealers

Ever had pain somewhere, but when you try to touch it, you can't quite seem to get to it? This can be referred pain, or a cutaneous nerve problem, but it can also be dermatomal pain. That's pain on different areas of the skin coming from the spinal nerves.

As a doctor, I understand how stress can become an issue. I juggle what feels like about 10 jobs. I have kids, a house, many employees and patients, plus I’m ra...rely home because I often travel for work. I realized that lack of sleep adversely impacts my health. I know I have to make sleep a priority, so I give myself a goal to get seven or eight hours of sleep every night. By experimenting, I figured out that when I get eight hours of good sleep, I feel much more alert and focused. Trust me; I know what a challenge that can become. Here are few ways to achieve a better night’s sleep: Get on a regular schedule. Going to sleep and waking at the same time each day creates a rhythm for your body. Only use your bed for sleep or romance. Don’t keep a television in your bedroom: Studies show the artificial, bright light can disrupt brain activity and alter sleep hormones like melatonin. Your bedroom should be a quiet, peaceful haven. Get natural sunlight. Aim for at least 20 minutes of sunshine every day, preferably in the morning, which triggers your brain to release chemicals that regulate sleep cycles. Avoid computers, smart phones, tablets and television one or two hours before bed. You might also try low blue light exposure for about three hours before bed. Low blue spectrum light helps your brain reset for sleep and increase melatonin. Use an acupressure mat. This helps stimulate your parasympathetic nervous system and create deep relaxation. Lay on it for about 30 or more minutes before bed. Get grounded. At times, electromagnetic frequencies can impair sleep. I recommend turning off WiFi and keeping all of your electronic devices away from your bed. Clear your mind. Keep a journal or notebook by your bed and write down your to-do list or ruminations before you go to sleep so you can close your eyes and make it less likely for your mind to spin. Perform light stretching or yoga before bed. This relaxes your mind and body. Research shows daily yoga can improve sleep significantly. Use relaxation practices. Guided imagery, meditation or deep breathing calm your mind and help you drift into sleep. See more

Good morning! I haven't posted for a bit and I apologize for that. This year has sure been alot, hasn't it. I have some housekeeping to do in the next little bit. First order of business is a rate change. ... Effective November 1st, 2020 ~ Subsequent treatment $90 (approx 60 mins) New Client Initial Treatment $125 (approx 90 mins) My rate fee is inclusive of tax. Cheque, cash and EMT are preferred methods of payment. I am still unable to take new clients and will not be able to suggest when that may change. I am still working through my covid cancelled appointment list and I am sorry for that. If I have not contacted you, it is not personal, in any way. * If you are a new client that has NOT been in the clinic before but holds a gift certificate, that will absolutely be honored. Paid for gift certificates will never expire. Donated ones do have expiration dates. In not having a software system in place, calling and texting hundreds of people has proved a massive and overwhelming task. I am working on that software now. It's way past due. Thank you for your continued support and patience with me and my business. We became a foster family just a few months before the pandemic hit and while I made some changes to make space for that massive change, they were definitely not enough changes. I will be reducing my work days to Tue/Wed/Thurs going forward. I will always do my best to accommodate scheduling requests but for the most part, these will be clinic days for the foreseeable future. Thank you for understanding. Have a great Wednesday everyone! I hope you are all keeping well and soaking up this beautiful sunshine! #HeelingSoleReflexology #CraniosacralReflexology #PentictonReflexology #SummerlandReflexology #OkanaganReflexology #RateChange #BusinessHousekeeping #WorkingMoms #FosterFamily #BalancingAllTheSchedules #OrAtLeastTryingTo #RisingStrongFromThePandemic #SlowAndSteady #OnlineSoftwareComingUp #SorryItsTakenSoLong #CreatureOfHabit

In fact, it takes just ten days without sugar to see substantial metabolic and neurological benefits. In a study published in the journal, Obesity, and spon...sored by the National Institutes of Health, scientists recruited 43 overweight teenagers who had at least one feature of metabolic syndrome, such as high blood sugar, hypertension, or abnormal cholesterol. On average, the subjects had been getting about 27% of their daily calories from sugar. But the researchers made one simple modification to their diets: They replaced all sweet foods that they were eatingcandy, pastries, doughnutswith starches. They kept the number of calories the same, so the subjects wouldn’t lose any weight. The goal of the study was to see whether replacing sugar with slow-acting carbs would improve health even without weight loss. After only ten days, there were marked changes. On average, the subjects’ diastolic blood pressure fell 5 points. Their LDL cholesterol dropped 10 points. Their triglyceride levels plummeted 33 points. And their fasting blood sugar and insulin levelsboth of which are predictors of diabetesimproved significantly. See more

Cranio-Sacral Reflexology (CSR) is a therapeutic method combining the use of pressure on specific areas of the foot, which relate to the 12 cranial nerves and t...o the pulse of the Cerebrospinal Fluid (CSF) that surrounds the brain and spinal cord. The distinction between Cranio-Sacral Therapy and CSR is that while the former accesses the CSF from the head, the latter can achieve that from a point in the foot, hand and the head. CSR works in treating trauma and stress-related conditions by balancing the distribution of the CSF within the four ventricles of the brain.

Have blurred vision? Headaches? Digestive problems? Believe it or not, that could be coming from here. The sutures of the zygomatic bone (zygomaxillary, zygofrontal, zygotemporal) can produce all of these symptoms when restricted. A good cranial therapist can sort it out for you.
