The Holiday Season is almost here which means the wonderful women and men, aka Santa’s Helpers, at HT Industrial, have already started their annual fundraising efforts for local families in need. It is important to note that none of these families are on social assistance. They are hardworking families struggling to make ends meet. They are referred to us by the teachers in the schools since the teachers in these schools know when times are tough for these families. They ...also could be referred to us as something traumatic has happened to the family and they feel that a helping hand might make things easier. Since 2010 Santa’s Helpers have worked tirelessly to fundraise and procure food and gifts for over 100 local children and their families. Santa’s Helpers could not have done this without the remarkable support of the freight companies, material suppliers and employees of HT Industrial. Thanks to their continued support Santa’s Helpers were able to adopt 5 families with a total of 15 children this year. Adopted family members make wish lists. These wish lists are provided to Santa’s Helpers, so they have a better idea of what is truly wanted/needed by the families. It may surprise you to know that it’s not always toys that are asked for by the children. Many ask for warm clothing, footwear and bedding. The food that is bought covers the entire day for the family, from breakfast all the way through to night time snack. As we have learned over the years many of these families struggle to put food on the table, so we go above and beyond what is requested and send at least a month’s worth of non-perishable food to help the family through this time of the year. On Christmas Eve Santa’s Helpers deliver the food and gifts to Santa’s workshop. Santa and his elves then deliver the gifts and food to the families. Each year Santa sends us an update on how his deliveries went and year after year he tells us of the shrieks of happiness and tears of joy he witnesses, making all the hard work performed by Santa’s Helpers so worthwhile.
