Congratulations to Hudson Alumni Hunter McGee for capturing the Mike Bello Invitational this past weekend. This is Hunter’s second win this season and third in his collegiate career. Hunter also shot a career-best 67 in the final round. Excellent job Hunter!!

What else do you do outside of your sport? These are taken in consideration when recruiters are looking to see what kind of person you are. Get involved! Beyond her climbing 3.83 GPA, Nicolette also deploys a savvy business sense. She executed her own online business at the age of 13 in order to pay for tennis and give herself the opportunity to continue pursuing her Division 1 objective! NCAA Scholarship Fact It is very common to see student athletes sign an offer that involves a combination of athletic and academic scholarship awards. This is another crucial reason that academic excellence is as important as athletic performance.... Division 1 programs require a minimum GPA of 2.3 and a minimum SAT score of 980 for the Academic Sliding Scale to be eligible for athletic competition. BUT.... that usually won’t be enough to solidify your placement with that school. The criteria for certain programs can be much higher, potentially pushing a GPA of 3.5+ and SAT scores of 1200+ Something else to remember is that Ivy League and Division 3 schools do not offer athletic scholarships. Academics are a core component of acceptance into these schools, and will determine academic aid for Division 3 options. Canadian U Sports schools also require an 80% academic average in order to be eligible for Athletic Financial Awards. What’s the bottom line Academic habits and performance will likely be a key factor in a student athlete’s post-secondary opportunities. Regardless of the route. Welcome to the team Jorja Nystrom of the Edmonton U18 AAA Pandas! Jorja is currently considering multiple offers at the NCAA and U Sports level for women’s hockey After winning League MVP for the North Central Impact (Bantam Elite) , Jorja joined the U18 AAA Pandas as a 15 year old.... She had a very strong rookie campaign: 10 Regular season points 2 Goals in 2 playoff games Won the academy championship 3 Game MVPs out of 5 possible games in the Championships One of the hardest working student athletes we have seen, Jorja now shifts her focus to being a leader for the Pandas in her 2nd year. We are looking forward to seeing Jorja become an elite student athlete at the post-secondary level in the coming years.
