Humans of Menno Place 12.11.2020

Hey, Abbotsford... we are coming to you for help. Menno Place is preparing for the worst and praying for the best with COVID-19. We have 700 seniors living here and we need to keep them safe! We need to keep our 700 staff safe, too! We are asking for Abbotsford to come to our aid and donate goggles. The kind of goggles we need look similar to the ones in these photos - safety goggles that completely cover the eyes - front and sides (new or used). A lot of construction workers... use these. Goggles are on backorder everywhere, so we're reaching out to our neighbours, our community. We will have a bin outside the main entrance of Menno Hospital - 32945 Marshall Rd from 8am - 4pm Monday-Friday to receive donations of goggles. When you drop them off, give a little beep on your horn so the residents know you are on their team! We do not have COVID-19 here at Menno Place and we are working very hard to keep it far away. Please help us. We'll be forever grateful.

For 67 years we have been trusted to serve the needs of seniors and their families - some of the most vulnerable people in our community. In this unprecedented time of coronavirus around the world, we take seriously our commitment to the health, safety and protection of all the Humans at Menno Place - residents, their loved ones and staff.

This is the crew of painters who completely changed the look and feel of The Chalet! Wow, what a difference! After the skylights and the additional windows were added into the structure, this crew worked tirelessly for 3 days to paint the entire area! The Chalet is a special care neighbourhood for those who are living with dementia. One family member said, "you can already feel the difference in the mood - much calmer with the new colors and the openness" - Thank you to Kelly and his crew!

Not a day goes by at Menno Apartments where residents and staff don’t make me laugh, smile and feel appreciated. I just love the joyful community here. Seniors have so much joy they are willing to give and share. The amount of compliments, jokes, and blessings I receive on a daily basis, even practical jokes on me sometimes; they fill my heart. That’s why I love my job in Reception. I am one of the first staff members the residents see in their day and the first they’ll go to with good news, bad news or their basic needs. I get to share so much with them and get to have so many special relationships where I can give joy and receive. It makes it easy and worth it to go the extra mile and continue to be passionate about my job each day.
