Congrats to Ellen Porteous who recently won Gold in the 2020 Cannes Young Lions (Digital section) . Ellen is a copywriter at the Abacus Agency and a 2017 Bachelor of Creative Advertising graduate. Here's what she had to say about her project submission: "The brief was about transgender and non-binary youth, specifically the discrimination and violence they face. My partner (Leo Januskausas) and I did a lot of research on the topic in order to do Gender Creative Kids Canada... justice. Our main insight was that the world is divided into twos (girl and boy, pink and blue, mom and dad), but there are kids who find themselves in the middle, in the grey area. Those are the kids that need help navigating this cis-gendered world. Meet Danica Nelson, Humber's newest Industry Liaison for the Advertising, Marketing & Communications diploma program. Danica is a multidimensional senior product marketing communications manager who specializes in personal branding, mindful productivity, and diversity, equity, and inclusion. She's has over 8 years of experience working in the field, and in 2019, she was named one of Strategy Magazine's Top 30 Under 30 Marketers in Canada. She's also an avid solo traveler who's visited 20+ countries, with her favourite being Thailand.
