Context is Everything by Monique Martin showcases the dandelion weed as a symbol for healing from emotional pain, physical injury and surviving through all life’s challenges and difficulties. It merges the unwanted or celebrated flora and weeds of the prairie landscape and the characteristic of judging people and events and circumstances too quickly without using prior knowledge and insights.
Come and experience an artistic celebration of the Cree way of life in Northern Saskatchewan at the Humboldt and District Gallery! Miriam Körner and Bernice Johnson-Laxdal have collaborated to bring us When the Trees Crackle with Cold: psimwasinahikan. The show is inspired by the traditional Cree moon calendar and Bernice’s childhood memories of growing up with her thirteen siblings in Ile-a-la-Crosse, celebrating northern Saskatchewan and its people.
