Hiking Windy Point Ridge west of Nordegg, overlooking Abraham Lake with Mount Michener in the background. A rare time when the wind has not blown the snow off t...he ice revealing the ice bubbles beneath. This is a difficult climb of about 4.5 kms with a bit of a scramble. Be aware that the weather can change quickly in this area, and it is named Windy Point Ridge for a reason. Windy Point Ridge is off the David Thompson Highway next to Abraham Lake, west of Nordegg about 38 kms in Clearwater County, a magnificent part of David Thompson Country. If you are looking for services in the area, Nordegg has gas stations, restaurants, a hotel, and many cabins or lodges to rent. About 50 minutes to the east Rocky Mountain House has all services.
