Now that the gifts are opened I shall start posting some of my recent commissions. This piece was done for a co-worker of mine who had it framed at Hunters Framing in Grand Falls-Windsor. I must give them credit, they did a fabulous job professionally framing the portrait.

This past Saturday, we conducted our annual Art Procurement at the Town Hall. Due to COVID-19 guidelines, this year’s event was closed to the public. Our panel ...of judges selected the works photographed here to be displayed in Town buildings. The total cost of work purchased was $5000. Today I am truly blessed to unveil a work of art that has taken me over 41 hours to complete! My first ever, coffee painting on canvas. Elixir of the ambiti...ous suspends above the uncertain tides of today. Several layers of coffee dripped and brushed onto a canvas to create this piece. The waterfall is modeled from local waterfall Thunder Brook Falls. This original one-of-a-kind piece, is currently for sale and display at Hunters Framing & Gallery and should really be witnessed in person.

Masks will be mandatory in Grade 7 to 12 classrooms - Extra busing will be added, but not right away. - Public exams for January have been canceled The Ministe...r of Education, Tom Osborne has announced that masks will be mandatory in Grade 7 to 12 classrooms where social distancing is not possible. Additional buses will be added to a number of routes, but this wont be in place until at least the end of September as the NLESD and Department of Education is still working on details. This was among other updates regarding next weeks return to school for K-12 students. Minister Osborne, has stated that all students who are eligible for school busing will have it, but the government as of yet, did not outline eligibility. Public exams scheduled for January have been cancelled. As well, the government is also considering cancelling June public exams for 2021. A decision will be made in the near future on the end of year exams.

Starting Monday August 24, as per order of the Chief Medical Officer of Newfoundland, a face mask will be required while in the gallery. If you have safety concerns regarding the wearing of a face mask in public, reach out to us & we will schedule a time outside our regular hours when you can come in to the gallery. Thank you... Today we had the privilege of presenting Michelle Daye of the local foodbank with a cheque for $750. We raised over $600 from the auction and Hunters Framing topped the amount to $750. Thank you for all that participated in the auction and an extra special thank you to the artists that donated the great artwork. Together we have helped our community be a better place to live.

Had such a great time this week that I think well do again same place, same time (Monday April 6th 2pm NL time). This is a step-by-step drawing tutorial, a b...it more advanced than last session but I think still good for all ages. In an effort to play our part in slowing the spread of Covid 19, Hunters Framimg will be closed for the immediate future. So very sad to be saying goodbye to our customers, but we know its for the best and the right thing to do for our community. If we could ask one thing of our customers, it would be to support all the small businesses who have turned off their lights and locked their doors this week. For many of these business owners, this is their ONLY source of income.... Walking away with no idea of when they will return, is beyond devastating and more particularly, seeing their staff in the same situation is heart breaking. Any many cases, our staff and customers feel like family. Remember these local small businesses are the first ones to support many groups and activities in our community, now it is our turn to return the favor and support them. While on the topic of community support, Hunters Framing will be partnering with a number of artists to offer to an online art auction with 100% of the proceeds going to help our local food bank. So keep an eye on our Facebook page as we hope to have the first piece of artwork up in the next day or so. Please take care of yourselves and keep your families safe. We will be seeing you soon. The provinces health minister, John Haggie, says the changes enacted over the last few days to deal with COVID-19 will likely last into early summer, if not lo...nger. Haggie said that includes a reduction in hospital services, including the cancellation of all non-urgent appointments and surgeries. "We need to settle down for the long haul," Haggie said at Tuesdays news conference. "It is not possible for the health-care system to do this by itself," he said, "every single person has a role to play in fighting the pandemic." He said the province has over 150 ventilators, he expects the number of people who would need ventilation, based on the situation right now, is low. Three people in Newfoundland and Labrador have now tested positive on initial tests for COVID-19, according to Dr. Janice Fitzgerald, the provinces Chief Medical Officer of Health. The two new patients are known to the person from the original case in the Labrador-Grenfell Health region. Fitzgerald said the positive tests were expected. Dr. Fitzgerald urges anyone who is symptomatic to call 811. She said 494 people have been tested, and 491 have been confirmed negative. There are 193 people in self-isolation and being monitored by Public Health. Dr, Fitzgerald says extra resources are being added to the 811 service, where there is currently a five-minute wait. Fourteen RNs are being added this week. Anyone experiencing symptoms is asked to self-isolate for 14 days and medical officials will be dispatched to your home to administer testing. Dr. Fitzgerald is asking that you do not go to a hospital or health care facility. Parents are advised to halt all play dates or sleepovers for children. Dr. Fitzgerald took her recommendations a step further Tuesday, calling for all public spaces to be closed, including bars and gyms, and for any St. Patricks Day celebrations to be cancelled now. "Our biggest worry is mass gatherings," she said. Dr. Fitzgerald reminded people it is still safe to be outdoors, but urged people to keep two arms lengths from each other. "These measures are no doubt inconvenient, we are not overreacting. You dont need to stay cooped up in your house, fresh air is fine. It is still safe to be outdoors. We encourage playing in your backyard, going for hikes but please respect the principle of physical and social distancing,"

This May Im offering a free photo session for any children and grandchildren who want the opportunity to get a photo taken with their dads/grandfathers. A few ...years back I did this for Mothers Day....this year itll be for Fathers Day (... I know its a few months away...but I also know how hard it can be to convince some dads to get photos taken)...so as someone who recently lost her father, let me try... I wish I had more photos of Dad and I (I wish Id taken my own advice)...but I have lots of dad and the girls and they mean more now than they ever did. So plan for it-itll be free and will make a nice gift...and itll make me feel better about Fathers Day this year-so its win-win... Stay tuned...:) See more

With a heavy heart, we regret to announce the passing of Denis Elijah Lloyd Pretty. Dedicated husband, father, brother and friend, talented and celebrated artist, storyteller and musician, activist and patron, Lloyd was beloved by all who knew him. The family requests respect and privacy during this difficult time. In lieu of phone calls and cards of consolation, please consider donating to either the Childrens Wish Foundation or Adsum House womens shelter in Halifax, Nov...a Scotia on his behalf. On behalf of the staff here at Hunters Framing, we wish to share our condolences to the family and to all those that knew Lloyd. He was a great artist and a huge friend to all of us. We will miss our chats. Rest easy old friend.

Falls-Windsor will be on display and for sale on Saturday from 11 AM to 4 PM at the Corduroy Brook Building. Just arrived in the gallery, Dr. Harveys A.N.D. Co. Mill. The attention to detail in this piece has to be seen in person to be appreciated. Canvas, paper and cards are available. We also just had local artist Pamela Martin in to drop off a number of her penny art. The detail on these items are beyond belief. Each piece has 9 coins and each coin has its own unique artwork.

Just arrived, hand painted Scallop Shells by local artist Pamela Martin. The pictures do not do justice to them. The colours are vibrant and feel like they are jumping off the shell. They come with display stand.
