Today we are greeted with some more tough research news. Wave’s drugs that were in trials in PRECISION-HD1 and PRECISION-HD2 are being stopped after neither man...aged to show any change in the mutant huntingtin protein. Wave say they are still committed to HD research and have their 3rd drug going into trials soon, which they are more hopeful of a result. We recognise this comes at a time where the HD community is already dealing with the news from Roche trial. However we still remain very hopeful for HD research, HDYO will have a session this Thursday at 2pm EST, 7pm BST and 8pm CET, to discuss the news with Matt, Hayley, Dr Lauren and Dr Heather . There is a disappointing update on two HD treatments that were being studied in the PRECISION-HD1 and PRECISION-HD2 trials. After reviewing the data, Wave has announced that both trials have been discontinued. The studies were stopped as the drugs being assessed did not achieve what was hoped. Ultimately, the goal of reducing mutant huntington protein in spinal fluid was not observed. Wave has confirmed that their SNP-3 trial will continue as planned. They are hopeful that the SNP-3 trial will provide better outcomes than the two previous studies.
