To bring awareness to HIV and AIDS volunteers knit or crochet red scarves for the Huron County Health Unit and HCHAN to tie around a Huron County Community for HIV/ AIDS Awareness Day, December 1. The Huron County HIV/AIDS Network (HCHAN) is going into it's twenty first year of existence. There have been many challenges in maintaining our presence in Huron County, stigma and fear being 2 of the biggest obstacles to overcome, but we are persevering in educating the public and supporting our clients to assist them with a healthy diet and trips to the city for appointments. Though our numbers are small, our goal is huge...to ensure that support is available for families in Huron County that may have someone close to them at risk of, or infected by the HIV virus. World AIDS Day 2016. There are still so many misconceptions about people living with HIV and AIDS. Lets make 2016 the year we all work together to STOP the STIGMA attached to these letters...HIV/AIDS. Call me if you need more information on how you can help in Huron County.

It's that time of year again...Red Scarves will be wrapped throughout Wingham this December 1. If you love to crochet or knit, let me know and I will round up some red yarn for you, we can surely use your help to make a huge impression in Huron County for World AIDS Day. The more we talk about it, the better you can protect yourself. Stigma will lessen the more open we are about HIV and AIDS, putting a personal face to this disease.

Western Ontario Opening Doors is in London this year...March 3 and 4. Great opportunity to hear the some great information on HIV/AIDS. Let me know if you are interested in attending.

7 Canadians are infected with HIV every day! Most don't know as they are not being tested. We need easier access to Anonymous testing in Rural areas...We need better information on Needle Exchange Programs in Rural areas...We need caring people to come along side people living with or at risk of HIV in rural areas...to stop the stigma and create a healthier environment, encouraging healthier choices. Let's make these changes together and see the difference in people's lives.

Tuesday, December 1 is World AIDS Day...just some information for you to think on.

We are looking for Youth, Health workers, or any interested public to sit on our board of directors. We meet every other month, with email updates opposite months. Learn what HIV is about and how we are working in Huron County to educate our at-risk populations.

If you have extra red yarn or plain red fleece that you want to donate to our World AIDS Day scarf project...drop it into the Made in Huron in Clinton...10 Huron street. Thanks

these red scarves were hung in Courthouse Square Park last December for World AIDS Day Awareness. If you love to knit or crochet, have access to red yarn and time to work on scarves approximately 6inches by 5 feet please drop them off to 10 Huron Street (Made in Huron) before November 15.

Summer just whizzed by...It is time to get serious about HIV education in our schools and community clubs. We are interested in reaching out to interested classes or groups to share information on HIV that is relevant to today's youth, young women and men and seniors! this morning I walked around the square in Goderich hanging Red Scarves on lamp posts...WHY? Today is World AIDS Day...Huron County is not immune to the HIV virus and the scarves are a great tool to foster AIDS Awareness. Between the Huron County Health Unit's scarves and what our volunteers had brought to me we hung over 130! Great start...let's get working on 2015 NOW.

World AIDS Day is coming December 1. HCHAN would like to "Paint the county red" with donated RED Scarves. We have been working all year to crochet or knit scarves that can be hung throughout the County during the week before December 1...We are asking for volunteers to knit or crochet red scarves for us to add to our collection! What a gorgeous day to be in London attending the South West Opening Doors HIV Conference! Super time last night watching the movie..."Surviving the Plague"...This morning we heard from David Hoe, connected to Ontario HIV |Treatment Network and Linda Robinson, a very knowledgeable pharmacist from Windsor.. I could listen to her all day!

Since 1992 HCHAN has been working to find accurate information that will help people living with HIV...
