Congratulations to Dr. Laura Pearson (English & Cultural Studies), the 2020-21 recipient of the McGorman Family Faculty Development Fund! The funding will create a collaborative researcher-in-training opportunity for a Huron student hired as a Research Assistant on Dr. Pearson’s ongoing project exploring the humanimal in graphic fiction. As Dr. Pearson explains, ideally, this funding opportunity will provide the project with a win-win research relationship something like the ones I experienced (and learned immensely from) once upon a time when I was a senior undergraduate research assistant at Huron myself. The McGorman Fund is awarded annually to a faculty member whose research project can be described as leading-edge in their field and contributes to enhancing the profile of Huron as a place of higher learning.

Huron is pleased to announce that Dr. Dan Smith has been appointed Dean of Theology effective December 1, 2020. Dr. Smith holds a Ph.D. from the University of St. Michael’s College at the University of Toronto and has been a faculty member at Huron since 2004. Dr. Smith’s academic research and publications have focused mainly on early gospel literature and its literary and compositional features. His current project is a major commentary on the letters of Jude and 2 Peter (t...o be published in the International Critical Commentary series).
