May 31st, 2020 marks Oliver Balaburski's 10th anniversary as Conductor and Artistic Director of the Huronia Symphony Orchestra. This picture shows Oliver (in the powdered wig) in costume having just conducted "Beethoven Lives Upstairs" with actors Scott Hurst and Callum Aldworth to a full house. Over the last 10 years, Oliver was commissioned to write two musical works for the HSO, and we enjoyed performing in such other well-received events as the Silent Film Concerts with the Barrie Film Festival, several Barrie Choralfests which included many Barrie choristors, Last Night of the Proms, Opera Nights, etc. and he has inspired many young players through the HSO Youth Program. Congratulations and thank you to Oliver for an exciting and memorable 10 years! We look forward to a time when we can resume rehearsals and concerts again!
