With the holiday season quickly approaching, we wanted to share a reminder on how to drop off items for your loved ones. Just inside the front door of the Homes, we have a tote labelled "Drop Box". Please be sure to clearly label all items (first and last names) so we can be sure the correct person receives it. *Also - if it is a Christmas gift, please specify when you would like the gift delivered. Drop box items are collected daily. Thank you in advance for your understanding, support and cooperation!

The County continues to monitor the status of regional COVID-19 cases and outbreaks in long-term care homes. Out of an abundance of caution, residents leaving the property and outdoor visits are suspended, effective November 11, 2020. This protocol will be reviewed on an ongoing basis. We continue to closely monitor the trends in our region and will adjust accordingly. Any further changes to protocols will be communicated as soon as possible. Indoor visits are still permitt...ed in the Home, subject to certain protocols and associated safety procedures. Please email [email protected] or call Activation to schedule a virtual visit or indoor visit. Visit www.huroncounty.ca/homes-for-the-aged/covid-19-update/ for more information.

Due to the rise in cases of COVID-19 and increase of outbreaks in long-term care homes across the province and within the Huron-Perth region, we have updated our protocols for Short Stay Absences. Effective Monday November 9, 2020, our Leave of Absence protocols will be reduced to one leave per resident per week. This protocol will be reviewed bi-weekly. We continue to closely monitor the general trends in our region and will adjust accordingly. Any further changes to protocols will be communicated as soon as possible.

Dear Huronview and Huronlea Community, As provincial cases of COVID-19 rise, restrictions fluctuate, and numbers of outbreaks in long-term care homes increase, we are continuously reviewing and enhancing our processes. Because of these risks, we are taking further measures to ensure that our residents and staff remain healthy and protected. Updated Safety Protocols:... - Bi-weekly COVID-19 testing will occur for residents participating in LOAs that leave the property. - If visiting from a Stage Two region or from out-of-province, you will be required to show proof of a negative COVID-19 test if you are planning to visit a resident inside or outside of the Home. - Families and friends of residents are strongly encouraged to visit at the Home rather than taking your loved one out to visit. Please email [email protected] to book a visit. We are committed to working in partnership with family members to provide the best care and protection for our residents. Thank you for your understanding, patience, and help to keep our Homes and loved ones safe.

Visiting at Huronview & Huronlea: As we watch the increasing spread of COVID-19, we ask our residents’ families, and everyone in the Huronview and Huronlea community, to genuinely consider the impact of travel and social gatherings for our residents as we continue to respond to this pandemic. We recognize how meaningful these social outings are for our residents’ emotional well-being. Still, for the health and safety of our residents and staff, we are discouraging leaves ou...tside of our Homes over the upcoming holiday weekend. At this time we, at Huronlea and Huronview, urge families with loved ones in our Homes to consider this ask as you plan your Thanksgiving holidays. We will make every effort to foster and enable social connections between residents and their loved ones through virtual visits or in-person visits at the Homes. As a reminder, outdoor visits are encouraged, weather permitting. To book an indoor or virtual visit, please email the Home at [email protected] or call Activation. With the rapid changes being seen across the province due to quickly rising cases of COVID-19 and provincial announcements, we are currently reviewing our policies on visiting and leaves. Any changes to these policies will be communicated as soon as possible. As we at the Homes continue to work diligently in providing care and making our Homes as safe as possible, we ask the Huronview and Huronlea community to continue supporting us by following all public health guidelines, including practicing physical distancing, hand hygiene, wearing masks, and adhering to social gathering limits. We ask you to review public health guidelines carefully. In the meantime, we are working hard to make sure that this Thanksgiving holiday within our Homes is just as special to our residents as it always has been. We are so grateful for the patience and flexibility you’ve continued to show our staff as we work through and continue to respond to COVID-19. We’re all in this together. Sincerely, The Staff and Management of Huronview and Huronlea
