What’s up guys! For this week's challenge, we have some simple movements to get your blood flowing and all you're going to need are some stairs. We have 6 exercises to get through, 30 seconds on each one: 1. Calf raises... 2. Step ups (right lead) 3. Step ups (left lead) 4. Heel drops (left lead) 5. Heel drops (right lead) 6. Stair jumps, step downs Follow along as coach Fatima Ba'abbad goes through each exercise. Keep in mind that you have the option to speed the movements up to really get your heart pumping, or you can take it slow for a lower intensity option. Feel free to hold on to the railings for some extra support too! You can do this challenge in your home, or you can take it outdoors for bonus points. Have fun and see you next week Hybrid fam! #betterthanyesterday #outdoorfitness #fitness #cardio

Member spotlight We want to recognize Andrew Torres, who's been a member at Hybrid Fitness since September 2018. He's spotted in the 5am classes every day (rain or shine) giving it his 110% and cheering on and rooting for the others around him (even in the zoom workouts now)! Why did you start your fitness journey? I’ve always struggled with my weight! At my heaviest I was 305lbs, & lowest 190lbs & everything in between. I stepped on my scale one day & I was up to 230lbs... that’s when I saw a post on Facebook for Hybrid's 6 week challenge and I loved the experience so much I never stopped! What’s your favourite exercise? Deadlifts, Deadlifts and more Deadlifts. Did I mention I like deadlifts! What’s your least favourite exercise? Thrusters! That’s all I’m going to say about that! What’s a memorable milestones in your fitness journey so far? Obviously with my ups & down with my fitness journey there have been a few milestones! But the most memorable one was losing 100lbs in 10 months! What’s one mistake you made when you first started exercising? Not being mentally ready for the journey. When you’re heavy, you sometimes focus too much on the numbers. How much did I lose this week? How many calories is that? So now how many minutes do I have to exercise to make sure I’m in a calorie deficit? What’s one thing you wish you knew about health & fitness 5 years ago? Being healthy is a lifestyle not a diet! People would always ask me if it was hard to lose all that weight and I tell them no, maintaining it is the hard part. I look at my health like a marathon now. Whereas in the past, I used to look at it like a sprint How do you stay dedicated to your fitness goals? I don’t step on a scale as much now. If my clothes fit & I feel good and strong, then the number on the scale is just a number. I’ve found something at Hybrid that I really love, which is a community & a second family. But maybe don’t ask me this question during a 14 minute AMRAP. My answer maybe be a little different! What’s a favourite quote? IF SOMONE TELLS YOU YOU CAN’T THEY’RE SHOWING YOU THEIR LIMITS, NOT YOURS! Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us Andrew!

Post workout is the best time to look for your car keys or cell phone charger. https://www.unige.ch//20/sport-et-memoire-font-bon-menage/

There are countless supplements on the market that claim to enhance performance, but few have stood the test of time and scrutiny like Creatine. Time and time again, the strength, power, and cognitive benefits of this simple, cheap supplement are proven. If you're looking for something you can ingest to increase in and out of gym performance, there likely isn't a better choice. https://jissn.biomedcentral.com/articles//s12970-019-0291-x

As in-gym performance rises in popularity, many gimmicks are coming along for the ride. There are a few methods of in-gym training that have been clearly shown to produce out-of-gym performance, and that's the result we should be going for. If you're lifting in the gym just to lift more in the gym, you may be misdirecting your training. If you're looking at your workouts as a way to kick more ass in life, stick to the chart. *This chart doesn't include skill work simply because that is very goal specific and may not necessarily take place inside of a gym.
