I was talking to a client this week about a logo design, and they wanted to add as many elements as they could to the design so that you would know exactly what they do. I asked them to take a look at some of the most successful brands today so that they could see that most are extremely simple and don’t necessarily showcase what the company does or sells! . Now I’m not saying you can’t be specific or show what you do, but it has to be done well and typically in a clever way!... . For me, simplicity is everything in design! It’s not about filling the page or adding so many elements to a logo that it begins to look complicated. Something about simplicity is truly beautiful. . Some of the most well known brands that showcase simplicity and do not show exactly what the company offers in just the logo itself are included below: - Apple - doesn’t show a computer or iPhone in the logo, just an apple - Amazon - doesn’t show a bunch of products, but instead a clever arrow that points from A to Z showcasing they offer products from a-z - Nike - doesn’t show anything to do with athletes, just a simple check mark - FedEx - doesn’t show delivery, just a clever hidden arrow to represent speed, accuracy and movement . Those are just to list a few! If you’re thinking of developing a brand remember to keep it simple and it will become much more recognizable. In business sometimes people will want to work with us and other times they won’t. The best advice I can give is don’t stress about it. . I learned awhile ago that rejection is completely normal and is bound to happen from time to time. We can’t expect that every person or project is going to be the perfect fit for us. Maybe we weren’t meant to work with that particular person/business, maybe the project wasn’t the right fit, or maybe it wasn’t the right timing... whatever... it is just move on and wait for the next opportunity to come along that is the right fit! . Talk about watching a whole brand come to life! I have been working with @whyte.teethwhitening for a while now. I’ve helped them develop an entire brand from scratch and then rolled that out into their website, social media, and a variety of marketing material. This particular project though was by far one of my favourites! I got to develop an at-home teeth whitening kit! . The design included: - Whitening Kit box design - Whitening Pen box design... - Whitening Pen design - Manual Card design . Whyte is their official brand name but we had fun with it and created sub-brands to help identify each product! The whitening pen is called the Whyte Wand and the at-home whitening kit is called Whyte Smart. Basically taking the original name and adding key words after it. This way it makes each item more recognizable but still consistent with the rest of the brand! A lot of people have asked me how I got started with my business, how I knew what to do, and how I grew so quickly... . The truth is I trust the process! I know you probably hear this all the time but it really is the main reason. I put all my trust into God and I allow my faith to move me forward and guide me in the right direction! . That doesn’t mean I haven’t been rejected or haven’t hit any obstacles. I have experienced it all, but by trusting God it has made it easier t...o get through all of those things.
