Available now! So happy to have played a small part in the development of the newly announced action plan for culture and creative industries PEI Cultural Strategy. Excited to see what happens next. https://www.princeedwardisland.ca/culturalstrategy
So very excited to be joining this small but mighty team.
For the last year, we've been investigating how sexual misconduct is built into the foundation of the music industry. This is how the music industry was built to fail women.
There’s a whole lot of faves on this list. Nathan Wiley, Sorrey, Stabbing Joy, Irish Mythen Music, KINLEY, Catherine MacLellan Happy Islander Day everyone!
A webinar on Creating Cultural Hubs is now available online. I'm definitely adding this to my 'watch' list.
Huge congratulations to all of the nominees and award winners! You are a big part of what makes PEI the incredible place that it is.
It's the most wonderful time of the year. Music PEI has returned 2018 Credit Union Music PEI Week to January and it all kicks off on Wednesday!
Good news for anyone who hasn't already submitted an application to participate the Canadian Song Challenge with Music PEI the deadline has been extended to January 31. I highly recommend throwing your hat in the ring for this one if you are eligible to participate. https://podio.com/webforms/20012255/1359019
Music PEI week is coming up in a few weeks. Do you have your tickets yet? Which shows are you most looking forward to? http://musicpei.com/music-pei-week/
A couple of faves doing great things.
Cities that want to attract diverse, thriving populations should look at creative musical culture in new ways and take steps to create conditions for live music to thrive or even continue...
Currently working on a dream project. Seriously, getting to do something that I've always dreamed of which is pretty exciting. It's also a lot of hard work and a little bit frustrating but I have to trust that it will all be worth it in the end. (sorry, not sorry for the vaguebooking)
Ugh. Fair warning to all of the SMM out there. The rules are changing. Again.
If creating a heritage minute short has always been on your bucket list as a filmmaker you might want to check this post out: http://www.mediajobsearchcanada.com/job.asp?j=54273
I'll admit I haven't watched Grey's Anatomy in a couple of years but one of the things about the show that has always stuck out for me was the use of music. There have been some pretty key moments amplified by a killer soundtrack. A couple of my favourites include the obvious (Chasing Cars, Breathe) but also Kathleen Edwards Page cover of It Must Have Been Love and Rose Cousins Go First.
There are still a couple of days left to get your donations in. It's a quick and easy way to help someone during what is typically a difficult time of year.
Raise your hand if you end up buying a lot of new music because of shows like these.
I will freely admit that I am a bit of a dinosaur. I like to own my music. I still buy CDs before I buy downloads and I save my vinyl purchases for things I'm truly into but I do spend more than my fair share of money on iTunes downloading music.
So excited for Back Alley Music. I can't wait to see the new digs.
I am a big fan of IFTTT (especially for SMM) and have dabbled in Evernote but I may need to give these other ones a go. Any others that you'd recommend?
Seriously though. This is going to be an incredible few nights of music.
I love that this is happening! Awesome job Baba's Lounge & Back Alley Music for bringing it back.
