Thank you Ashley Lewis for posting. These information sessions are regarding the proposed quarry north of Cataract . These sessions are being done by the compan...y, there is no connection to the Town of Caledon. IMO the virtual meetings are a way for the company to move forward by checking off the "to do" boxes. "As a neighbour in close proximity" ? Well, that is all of us. This quarry will be blasting all the time, truck traffic will increase. This needs to be stopped. To provide feedback, questions or concerns please follow the instructions by March 5th. PLEASE SHARE ! See more

Halton Hills again showing Caledon how its done.

Ian Sinclair Regional Councillor Ward 1 Caledon 15.04.2021

Last night Halton Hills Council passed the following resolution unanimously calling on the Province to slow down the process that requires municipalities to app...rove conversion of valuable farmland for development. The pandemic has stopped in-person public engagement. Zoom meetings attract very little participation and don't allow for discussion. The process must be slowed down until the municipality can host in-person public consultations. At this time, the municipalities in the Greater Golden Horseshoe are complying with provincial regulations by pressing ahead to approve the conversion of tens of thousands of acres of class 1, 2, and 3 farmland to accommodate growth to the year 2051. The public are not paying much attention to this during the pandemic. We must demand that the process slow down. We are encouraging other municipalities to pass similar resolutions. Feel free to share with your municipal councillors and MPPs. Resolution No.: Title: Resolution to Extend the Consultation Period for the Regional Official Plan Review Date: February 1, 2021 Moved by: Councillor J. Fogal Seconded by: Mayor R. Bonnette Item No. WHEREAS Halton Region is currently conducting a municipal comprehensive review (MCR) of its Official plan whereby decisions must be made as to how all of the population and employment growth is to be accommodated in the local municipalities for the next 30 years; AND WHEREAS since June 2019 the Province has amended a number of Provincial Statutes and policies that impact how municipalities plan for growth including the following: The Provincial Policy Statement, A Place to Grow: The Growth Plan for the Greater Golden Horseshoe, The Development Charges Act, The Planning Act, The Environmental Assessment Act, and The Conservation Authorities Act; AND WHEREAS these significant changes include: reduced density targets in new greenfield development from 80 persons and jobs per hectare to 50 persons and jobs per hectare, reduced intensification targets from 60% beyond 2031 to 50%, setting minimum population and employment growth forecasts that can be exceeded subject to Provincial approval, extended the planning horizon from 2041 to the year 2051, introduced market demand as a consideration in determining the housing mix, and revisions to how municipalities fund growth AND WHEREAS these and other changes signal an abrupt shift from the emphasis on creating compact and complete communities to a planning regime that facilitates lower density and car dependent communities; AND WHEREAS Halton Hills, Burlington, Oakville, Milton and Halton Region have all declared climate change emergencies and must consider the role of land use planning in their strategies to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions; AND WHEREAS these changes create pressure to convert more class 1, 2 and 3 farmland in Halton to urban uses than would otherwise be necessary which is contrary to Halton’s Official Plan and its 2019-2022 Strategic Plan, which both have as a goal to protect a permanent agricultural system in Halton; AND WHEREAS the change of the planning horizon to 2051 means that future municipal councils and the public will have little power to change decisions about how they will grow for the next 30 years; AND WHEREAS Halton Hills has adopted a public engagement charter that is based on transparency, notification and participation; AND WHEREAS the current pandemic is making effective, in person public consultation impossible at a time when robust, informed public consultation is needed more than ever. THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Region of Halton be requested to delay its final report on its Official Plan Review until proper, in person, informed consultation with the public has been conducted; AND FURTHER THAT the Province be requested to suspend the timetable for municipal conformity to the Growth Plan and the Provincial Policy Statement to ensure that the public can fully participate in the process of planning their communities for the next 30 years of growth; AND FURTHER THAT this resolution be circulated to Premier Doug Ford, Steve Clark, Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing, Halton Region, local Halton municipalities, AMO, leader of the Provincial opposition parties, MPP Ted Arnott and GTA Small Urban Mayors. __________________________ Mayor Rick Bonnette

Sat. October 24, 2020 Good morning everyone. Ian Sinclair our Regional Councillor reported, that since the completion of the Alton Main St. South and Queen St.... East reconstruction, he has been informed of two Alton seniors slipping and falling badly. This was due to the glazed protection surface placed on the embossed concrete strip between the sidewalk and curb. Ian reported these incidents to Peel staff and after review they have ordered a non-slip surface treatment to the glazed protection layer. Until this is completed please be careful when walking in these areas.

The current standards by the Minister of the Environment Jeff Yurek are not standards at all. He’s the gatekeeper for developers spewing effluent in our cold water rivers.

Starting Nov. 1, individuals choosing the time-of-use route will be charged 10.5 cents per kWh during off-peak hours (7 p.m. to 7 a.m.), 15 cents per kWh mid-pe...ak (11 a.m. to 5 p.m.) and 21.7 cents per kWh during on-peak hours (7 a.m. to 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. BEFORE COVID Off peak 6.5 difference 4 cents more Mid Peak 9.4 difference 5.6 cents more On peak 13.4 difference 8.3 cents more When Hydro One "helped save people money" they were actually charging people more on off peak. 12.8 cents per kWh, twice what it cost pre COVID, so if the offer is to keep the current of 12.8 24/7 then no, give me back time of use, even though off peak is now going to be 4 cents more per kWh.
