Happy World Autism Awareness Day to everyone on the spectrum, their families, their caregivers, and all the groups who support, advocate and work as agents of c...hange to ensure Ontario sees the potential in everyone with ASD! Over the week, our Chapters have organized events that have involved thousands of families and community partners. We've trained hundreds of professionals in Children's Friendship Training and ran hands-on workshops with parents strengthening their ABA skills. Thousands of parents and caregivers have taken the time to answer our survey about autism services in Ontario and tomorrow, thousands of schools and hundreds of municipalities will #raisetheflagforautism in support of inclusive communities. The autism community is working hard to help inform some of the bigger changes happening for children's services and we're so honoured to be part of this ongoing, important dialogue. This year we wanted to to keep the conversation going all month. Today, we're introducing the first of several stories about how both people on the spectrum and their families have found creative housing solutions in Ontario. Housing is complicated and not one-size-fits-all. We're inviting everyone to take part in an interactive webinar on April 27th to explore supportive housing solutions with thought leaders including parents and professionals who are working to effect change. Meet Chris and Val, who have been working together to find the best supportive housing solution for Chris in rural Ontario. To sign up for our webinar, please click here: http://bit.ly/AOHousing A special thanks to Productions Spectrum for all their creative and hard work in helping families across Ontario share their stories about home. Stay tuned, in the coming days and weeks, we'll be sharing more stories and resources to get every family thinking... And happy April 2 to everyone working hard at making Ontario a better place for people on the autism spectrum!
