We are very pleased to report that we will be reopening our Independence Training Centre and Stroke Programs effective February 16. Some programs will be limited or delayed. We will be in touch with those clients who are affected.
COVID Update The Provincial Government announced yesterday that an Emergency Order has been issued and will be in place until at least February 11, 2021. With this in mind, ICAN has decided to extend the suspension of services in our Independence Training Centre until at least that date. All clients who will be affected by this will be notified individually. For the time being, ICAN will continue to provide services in all other programs. Visitor Screening will continue at o...ur Haig Street Apartment building. All visitors will be required to complete a full screener and have a temperature check done. If a visitor does not pass the Screener, the visitor will not be allowed to enter the building. The Fielding Room will also remain closed. Clients at Haig Street should not congregate outside together. We are asking all of our clients for full cooperation and compliance with the Emergency Order. This includes: Limiting visitors in your home to essential visitors only. Strongly encourage your visitors to wear masks while visiting with you. Only leave your home for essential purposes: i.e. grocery shopping, pharmacy visits, medical appointments. Please do not have visitors in your home when ICAN staff are there to provide services. Maintain social distancing. Wash your hands often. Use hand sanitizer. You are also encouraged to wear masks whenever possible when ICAN staff are in your home. Continue to cooperate with ICAN’s daily screening requirements. If you have any signs or symptoms, inform ICAN and call the Public Health Unit to be tested. Inform ICAN of test results. Follow any other directives from the Government or the Public Health Unit. Be prepared for possible service cancellations. We will avoid this as much as possible. ICAN remains committed to providing you with services throughout the pandemic. Should you have any questions, please direct them to your ICAN Client Services Coordinator or your Program Supervisor. ICAN apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause. The Health and Safety of our clients and our staff remain our priority during this time. See more

COVID-19 UPDATE December 22, 2021 As you are aware, the Ontario Government is implementing a lockdown effective December 26 for a two week period. In light of this, ICAN will be closing the Independence Training Centre for the two week period, which includes next week (which we are already closed) and the following week. Hopefully, we will reopen on Monday, January 11. For all of our clients, please follow the lockdown rules, by limiting your guests to essential visitors only. Please screen your guests and ask them to wear a mask. Always ensure that you practice social distancing, wash your hands often and use hand sanitizer. We wish you all a very safe and healthy holiday season!
