You are invited to participate in a Public Open House from 7 - 8pm on Thursday, August 20, 2020 in-person at the Inglewood Community Hall (1740 - 24 Ave SE) or remotely using the following link: https://meet.google.com/xeb-ujid-kgj The purpose of the Open House is to allow Inglewood residents to ask questions and share any concerns about a Land Use Redesignation (LDC2020-0093) that St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church (1423 - 8 Ave SE) is applying for to allow them to ru...n a 20-pupil Home Schooling Co-op Program at the Church. The Land Use Redesignation will not result in changes or renovations to, nor the demolition of the Church. The small school group has operated out of the Church for the past two years on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and the application is administrative in nature to secure funding. The application will not impact parking or traffic If attending the Open House in-person, please wear a mask. Chairs will be spaced 2m apart in the Dave Marshall Room at the Inglewood Community Hall. OPPORTUNITIES ON THE ICA BOARD OF DIRECTORS AND COMMITTEES Your Inglewood Community Association is looking for enthusiastic, committed volunteers to join the 2020-2021 ICA Board of Directors! While individual roles vary, there are many opportunities for Inglewoodians to get involved in the areas they feel most passionate about. Any eligible member in good standing can volunteer for a position. Nominations are accepted either in advance or at the Annual General Meeting on elec...tion night: Monday, September 28th, 6.30pm 8.30pm (7pm start) at the ICA Community Hall, 1740 - 24th Avenue SE. You will need a valid Inglewood Community Association membership (new memberships at least 30 days in advance) and a piece of government issued ID to vote. Renewals can be purchased on-line, at the AGM or at the ICA Office. Come down and vote for the 2020-2021 ICA Board of Directors. The AGM is typically followed by a Wine & Cheese Social for members & invited guests, however this year due to Covid we will not be able to offer refreshments at the event. Neighbours are welcome to stay to meet the new Board and catch up. Physical-distancing measures will be in place with chairs spaced 2m apart, and all attendees are asked to wear a mask and sanitize hands on arrival. If you’re interested in a Board position, sitting on a committee or just volunteering for the ICA, please contact [email protected] for more information. The Board meets once a month on a Thursday. Most committees meet once a month, and Directors report to ICA members at monthly General meetings. BOARD POSITIONS Executive positions (President, Vice President, Treasurer and Secretary) are named at the AGM. Director-at-Large positions are determined at our first Board meeting of the year so that we can leverage the unique skills and interests of our Board members. 12 positions are available. COMMITTEES and Other Volunteer Opportunities Planning Committee, Heritage Committee, Communications (Website, Social Media), Newsletter Team, Memberships, Merchant Discount Program, Social Events (Christmas Party, Hallowe’en Party, etc.), Rink Ice Maintenance, Rink Concession, Sports Groups and Events, Casino (biennial), Bingo (bi-weekly), Community Clean Up, River Clean Up, and liaison for 9th Avenue Business Improvement Area (BIA), Safety, Inglewood Community Garden, the Colonel Walker School, and the Calgary Airport.
