Conservation Cam! Our friends at Osa Conservation capture the incredible scarlet macaws. "Scarlet macaws (Ara macao) may live up to 50 years in primary forests, and here in Osa, they are plentiful! These birds mate for life and are rarely seen alone. Here at Osa Conservation, our treetop camera trap captures a moment in the long lives of these brilliant birds. We are very proud of the work and results which the field team at Osa continue to create! #ForNature

Colombia: Conserving harlequin toads in the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta. The Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta appears to be the only place in the Americas with stable populations of high-altitude harlequin toads the world's most threatened genus of amphibians. Classified as a Key Biodiversity Area, the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta is the highest coastal mountain in the world, reaching 5,775 m above sea level. Its altitudinal amplitude, isolation, and tropical location have con...ferred biological and hydrological importance. This project is designed to obtain information on the population dynamics, the presence and prevalence of Bd, and the degree of threats to Atelopus populations in the SNSM to develop conservation strategies together with the local communities, including the Arhuaco del Sogrome Indigenous peoples. With our field partners, Fundacion Atelopus we are helping build awareness in local communities of the importance of protecting these species going forward. #ForNature

As a global community we must continue to take a stand and combat the injustice which continues to take place in the Amazon. We are proud to continue to represent The Kayapo, Guardians of the Forest as our largest project to date. Learn more below! #ForNature

A restricted-use fund within ICFC dedicated exclusively to strategic land securement is now available to support through ICFC. This program provides opportunities to secure significant natural areas which sometimes require rapid action. This fund helps enable us to seize outstanding opportunities. Photo: @andyrainforest: "The Brazilian lowland tapir is locally known as the Sacha vaca - or forest cow. Not only are they robust, fantastic beasts that make human like trails through the forest, disperse huge tree seeds that other animals cannot and make a wonderful communicative whistle, they are also just as incredible in the water. They swim unbelievably well and in just the past few days here @conservacionamazonica #losamigosbiologicalstation we have seen 7 of these beau...ties. Hopefully our new project will allow us to learn more about their social networks and dependence on clay licks. Thanks to the help of organizations like @icfcanada these highly prized and hunted animals have a home @conservacionamazonica. And check out all those horrible ticks over her face. Little gits." #conservation #wildlife #yourshotphotographer #nature #wildlifephotography See more

Photo: @moens.michale "The last extensive lowland Chocó rainforest in Ecuador We spent 4 days at this remote field station, looking for birds, mammals, frogs and reptiles. In just one night we found six glass frog species, two boa species and one eyelash pitviper along a single river I am sure this place has so many secrets to reveal, and we are very close to save this biodiversity paradise"... Expansion of Canandé Reserve is part of an ambitious plan to secure a significant portion of the Ecuadorian Chocó. Key to this is taking advantage of a rare opportunity to acquire 22,986 hectares that will connect Canandé Reserve with two government reserves. This multi-year effort will both establish a buffer zone for public reserves and create a natural corridor between the three protected areas. It will protect an entire range of ecosystems from Chocó lowland rainforests to Andean páramo and high elevation grasslands, providing an altitudinal gradient that will help species adapt to the effects of climate change. #ForNature

BREAKING NEWS! Last week, several european banks such as @Rabobank, creditsuisse_ch and @inggroup and @BNPParibas Group, collectively responsible for financing the trade of over $5.5B USD in Amazon oil have committed to immediate restriction measures on the trading of oil from the Amazon Sacred Headwaters of Ecuador! This, and other forms of large scale divestment are what is needed for the global community to lead the massive shift required to defund industries which are unsustainable and damaging to biodiversity around the planet! #ForNature

"I've been so lucky to see and be a part of many impactful and innovative conservation projects whilst working for #OsaConservation. If you are wondering what I mean, check out @osaconservation! Being able to work up in the canopy has taken my love for my job to new heights (excuse the pun).... We are currently working to install wildlife crossings so treetop species like monkeys can cross the road and get to the other side to more rainforest. Where they will find space, sleeping trees and delicious fruits to eat. Installing a treetop wildlife crossing requires some determination, grit, rope pulling, a little bit more rope pulling and an incredible team @ariannabastoe @johanortiz20 @fray_lee27 @colibri_cyanotus @caropinto321 @freyahocking and @wildernessofthemind who took a break from rope pulling to snap this awesome shot . Due to the support of @icfcanada we are able carry out this important canopy connectivity work." We are always glad to see our purpose-driven partners around the planet sharing their excitement. Keep up the great work Eleanor! #ForNature

We are thrilled to announce that @dreamableinc is partnering with ICFC's project in the Ecuadorian Choco region. "Currently, the region continues to be threatened by rapid deforestation due to timber extraction, road construction, and harvesting palm oil on a large scale; less than 2% of the original Ecuadorian Chocó remains. ... Thankfully, despite the area hanging on by a thread, it can still be preserved and restored. ICFC is working to expand the Canandé Reserve by protecting 23, 000 hectares of land from a logging company. This area will provide homes to countless threatened species like the horned marsupial-frog, red-capped manakin, and an incredibly rare endemic tree species. Nowhere else will an entire range of ecosystems from Chocó lowland rainforests to Andean paramo-high elevation grasslands be protected on the western slope of the tropical Andes, providing an altitudinal gradient that could help species adapt to the effects of climate change.#ForNature Photo Credit: Tropical Herping See more
