IDIBC is now a member of CIDRAC The Council of Interior Design Regulation Authorities of Canada (CIDRAC) is composed of the nine provincial regulatory bodies across Canada, who set the professional standards for the profession and determine who meets the established qualifications in each jurisdiction. These provincial bodies individually regulate the practice of interior design in the interest of protecting the public. As provincial authorities, the members of CIDRAC see va...lue in a cohesive approach in the setting of professional standards across Canada and elevating the profession of interior design. CIDRAC members will meet regularly to cooperate on regulatory matters of mutual interest and concerns. CIDRAC will focus on regulatory matters such as: -Education, experience and examination requirements; -Review of interior design competencies to ensure relevancy; -Reciprocity agreement between the members of CIDRAC and the provincial jurisdictions; -Regulation of the title or practice of interior design; -Ongoing requirements such as professional development and liability insurance; -Setting of professional standards and enforcement; -Lobbying provincial and federal government on sound public policy; -Regulatory advocacy that builds awareness around the minimum qualifications in Canada and regulation that exists; -Programming that promotes and elevates the profession of interior design in Canada; -Best practices related to, but not limited to, administrative, regulatory and governance matters. The Tom Park Student Bursary was created in 2013 to honour the life, legacy and volunteer spirit of Tom Park, a former IDIBC volunteer and generous contributor to the interior design community. It will be awarded to a minimum of one eligible student nominee who best exemplifies the spirit of participation and volunteerism within the interior design profession above and beyond their curriculum requirements, making an impact on their future profession and furthering the goals o...f IDIBC. Grade point average or financial need are not influencing factors. The award is $1000 per student. Any full or part time student member of IDIBC in good standing who is either: -Resident of BC for provincial tax purposes, or -Enrolled in a CIDA accredited four year Bachelor of Interior Design degree in BC. Nominee must be a student in the program in the calendar year in which they are nominated. IDIBC Registered Members: BC Building Code Update Seminar: New self-reporting details All Registered Interior Designers (RIDs) are required by IDIBC to maintain current knowledge of the BC Building Code. In 2019, IDIBC changed its Professional Development policy to ensure that all existing RIDs complete a BC Building Code update seminar with every substantial BCBC update (ie. 2012, 2018, etc.).... RIDs must complete an IDIBC-approved BC Building Code update seminar that includes an overview of 2018 updates to the BC Building Code. This two-hour seminar must be completed by all RIDs prior to Dec. 31, 2021. Documentation of seminar completion will be required as part of the 2022 membership renewal process. New RIDs are not required to take the update seminar if they have completed the 36 hour course on the 2018 BC Building Code required as part of their membership application. IDIBC will offer another online seminar in 2021. Date will be announced by email one to two months prior to seminar. Online registration will be available.

BCBC 2020 Building Accessibility Handbook now online The new Building Accessibility Handbook reflects the BCBC 2018 accessibility requirements. It is a separate resource that provides explanatory text and illustrations to support code users to better understand and apply the complex code requirements to make buildings more accessible.
