The announcement that we are staying in the Orange Restrict level of the COVID-19 response framework may come as a surprise given the low incidence of active ...cases and low positivity rate in the Porcupine Health Unit (PHU) region. While case count and the positivity rate are pieces of information that are considered by the Ontario Ministry of Health when deciding on our framework level/colour, there are other indicators as well. These indicators include outbreaks, community spread, health system capacity, public health capacity, and local context. They also look at what is happening in other parts of the province. The context for the North currently includes high rates of COVID-19 cases, alarming presence of variants of concern, and significant number of outbreaks among our neighbouring health units. By staying in the Orange Restrict level longer, we can help protect our most vulnerable residents and avoid additional workplace closures and community restrictions.

On behalf of the IFDCC Board of Directors, we would like to thank every single business, organization and individual who took part in the Iroquois Falls Christmas Parade tonight! We had over 18 entries this evening and each one brought their best! An over-whelming thank you to our Staff member, Danielle Rowan, for making this idea come to light and Michael Shea for your help and guidance. We look forward to hosting this event next year and can't wait to work with everyone again and also with those who weren't able to participate this year due to short notice. We already have more plans for next year and we can't wait to get started! #ifchristmasparade
