I Heart Clean & Tidy

To our house cleaning Customers, As of April 9, 2021, I heart clean has discontinued providing house cleaning services until further notice. The page will become 'i heart clean and tidy' focusing on home projects, tips, and organization services.... The decision to close has not been taken lightly. These are the circumstances that have been taken into consideration: 1) The house cleaning industry in North Vancouver is difficult to maintain at a high level of service for more affordable rate due to the total costs of operational (insurance, WCB, vehicles, supplies, equipment, CRM systems, admin, accounting, salaries, EI and CPP remittances etc...) while meeting the employees' demand for higher wages in order to compensate for their 45 - 60 minutes commute to work on the North Shore. 2) As you may be aware, our business model is competing with the cleaning 'apps' and solo cleaners who get paid up to $25/hour as a contractor. I heart clean would have to switch to become a 'connecting' platform between customers and independent (insured) cleaners to be competitive instead of hiring employees. 3) Many people working as a cleaner are preferring to pick and choose their own schedule. Having set working hours has been a point of difficulty with our operations. 4) One of the struggles within the cleaning business is the necessity of keeping quality and timing consistent between the various cleaners as some cleaners are slower then others. I heart clean is responsible for all discrepancies and holds each employee accountable for their quality of work. In the past, we have had some people hired with cleaning experience, who have resisted conforming our training and methods for quality consistency as held by I heart clean and have quit resulting in higher turnover. 5) Distance to the North Shore is another huge issue: employees will join and quit within 2 weeks as the duration of time and bridges involved to commute here is a huge deterrent. And with local basement suites running at $2000/ month rent, the livability rates to stay on the North Shore is very limited. It has been hard to hire locally due to the income they require. Since 2017, I heart clean has weathered many challenges; adapted, revised, strategized, and ultimately, given it our best. We are grateful to have learned so much and if we reopen it will be set up in a way that is Win-Win-Win for customers, staff, and business operations. An item was accidentally broken while cleaning, here is our customers response: "I really appreciate the way you not only have offered to pay for it (broken item), but also took care of ordering it and getting that sorted. I've been impressed with your commitment to customer service, and this just adds to that." We value the trust you give us to be in your home and will take care of it :)
