We had some dogs arrive in Canada in October. Elvy, Wally, Tiny Tina, and Peyton have cost $4,203.42 in vet bills in the last 3 weeks. This is a large sum that accumulated very quickly!! (Not to mention the costs it took to rescue and bring each of them into Canada as well)... We are hoping we can raise some donations to help with some of their bills. If you are in a position to help our rescue we would really appreciate the extra support right now! Elvy had a dental and spay done with bloodwork as she’s a senior which cost $577.70 Wally had a dental and toe growth removal done which cost $1,039.20 Tiny Tina has a dental done which cost $851.49 she is also a senior. And last but not least Peyton who is no longer with us but had a lot of vetting done prior to having to put him down cost us $1,735.03 at a North Vancouver vet and at Gladys vet. That puts our total at $4,203.42 in 3 short weeks for 4 dogs. If anyone would like to see the bills we will happily share them in a private message with whoever is interested. Ways you can donate: 1. You can donate directly to our vet over the phone. Mention it’s for I Helped Save Rescue Gladys Pet Hospital 604-850-2000 2. You can send us an e-transfer to [email protected] if you’re in Canada. 3. Through our website. Scroll down front page to where it says Donate www.ihelpedsave.ca 4. Through PayPal under Friends/Family [email protected] Thank you so much to those that can help! If you cannot donate, could you please share this post! We are always being asked to take Senior dogs and Bonded pairs and we don’t want to have to turn down dogs in need over financials. Thanks very much and thank you to those that have donated already!!!

Peyton was rushed to the vets this afternoon. We don’t have results yet but did some testing so we can know which direction we need to go in next. ... At this point we don’t have answers but we know there is a very real chance he may not survive whatever is going on. Please send all your prayers for him to get through whatever this sickness is because he was just getting ready for his new life!!!

Applications are on our website. Questions can be messaged here or emailed to [email protected] www.ihelpedsave.ca Please share Wally’s post to your page so he can find his forever home!!! Happy Halloween!!!

SPECIAL HOME needed for DJ!! He’s currently in California where his family would prefer him to find a home at, but they are open to him finding a home in the S...eattle area if there is a good fit. Please read the whole post, please share, and please send me a message if you’re interested in having DJ for the remainder of his life. (Maybe a home in Canada is an option too?) Please no judgement, this post is for DJ the dog not for what his owner should/could do. DJ is a sweet 13 year old, pure bred yellow lab who is full of love. He is very popular within the neighborhood and especially loves treats and scratches behind the ears. He has a lovable face, very photogenic, and likes hugs. He gets along well with other dogs and animals alike but he is more interested in humans. He has pretty bad arthritis which isn’t uncommon with his old age but he is still very much with us. Most important to know is that he currently cannot walk on his own for very long and needs help getting up and going to the bathroom at least 2, max 3x a day as his legs are weak and cannot support him for very long. He will whimper and bark if he feels abandoned by humans which just takes some reassuring that you’re in the next room and any episode doesn’t go on for very long once he gets to know you and develops trust. Basically if he feels helpless, he’ll get anxiety which just requires you to give him some love. Overall, he needs attention every 4-5 hrs during the day as any average dog would and he usually sleeps throughout the night. Taking care of him wont be for everyone as he has a special need but we hope to find him a home that will best suit his condition and let him continue to live the rest of his days in peace, knowing he is loved and cared for dearly. Here is a typical day care for DJ: -He’ll wake up whenever you do. -Take him out, prop him up using the harness to make sure he does his business and won’t fall over, then bring him back inside to eat breakfast. -He takes a scoop of dry food with hemp oil and you’d need to bring the bowl to him. -drinking water - sometimes he refuses to drink so we usually put apple sauce or beef broth in the water so he’ll slurp it all up. -he will then usually sleep until the afternoon where he gets some frozen apple sauce or a cut up banana. Then he goes back to sleep. -after taking him out in the morning, do this again 4-5 hrs later (sometime in the afternoon) -evening: take him out a 3rd time or wait till before you go to sleep. -dinner: 7:30/8pm he gets 1 pill of gabapentin, hemp oil, dry food, and either celery, carrots, or green beans all mixed in his food. -he has no other noticeable health problems since his last check up this month. Other notes: We usually keep a fan on him to cool him down as he’ll pant sometimes. He is an inside dog but sometimes won’t mind being outside, definitely not for more than a couple hours though. He sleeps most of the day but will ALWAYS wake up if he smells or hears food is being prepared. He needs to preferably be in a 1 story home with easy access to do his business outdoors. He will sometimes make accidents indoors and needs a diaper or something easily washable underneath him for any messes. This usually doesn’t happen unless he doesn’t go out for more than 5 hrs. Any other questions, please contact Ron Jacobs (818) 267 6722

Wally He has arrived into Canada! He was rescued from a high kill shelter in California. ... He’s been here almost a week now in Abbotsford. He went to the vet the other day. He has stage 4 dental disease and has a growth in between his toes which will all be addressed on the 28th where he will get a much needed dental done, and they will remove his toe growth as well. Unfortunately he will likely be losing most of his teeth. He’s approx 8 years old. He will be looking for his forever home once he has recovered from his surgery. He is a sweet boy, and loves everyone and will be a great addition to any home once he is ready!

Mama Lucy and her puppies left the vet building yesterday. It was an iffy situation we weren’t sure if we were going to be able to get her out of there after... the failed attempt last week. Barbara Bauch Calderon’s 20 year old son went to the vet yesterday to try to win her over, he brought some ham and sure enough she took it from him. He managed to get a leash on her at that point. She is still cautious but there is no aggression currently. All the growling and lunging at the vet was to protect her puppies, which we figured. Anyways, It was a success breaking her outta the vet yesterday and we learned there are actually 9 puppies total not 10 Lucy was covered in ticks yesterday so we got those off. She weighs about 50lbs max.

***new update!! Just got mama dog in a crate, now to grab rest of the puppies from the hole!*** Update on today’s events. ... Managed to get 3 puppies to safety, but haven’t been able to capture mama. She went into the hole with the remaining puppies and won’t come back out. We will have to put the 3 puppies back if mama doesn’t come out soon. Going to have to try again in the morning with a new plan it is already 37 degrees there. They are covered in sand/dirt and there are red ants everywhere.

Any foster in Abbotsford or Mission available this weekend? Wally the Shih Zhu will be arriving and needs to be close to our vet in Abbotsford as he has a grow...th on his foot and needs a dental badly. (Or if you don’t mind bringing him back and forth from our vet in Abbotsford, you can live a little further out) Please let me know if you can foster him! He’s 14lbs friendly with people and dogs. Haven’t seen him around cats or children yet.

Please send all your good vibes, thoughts and prayers for our rescue today. We learned about a mom dog and puppies living in a hole recently. The family cann...ot keep them at their house so we are going to rescue them today. The photos are of the mom dog, and the hole is where the puppies live. We have someone on their way now to attempt catching the mom who is a stray and hasn’t allowed human touch, and to rescue the puppies living in the hole. The temperatures will be 42 degrees this afternoon there so we need to rescue them as soon as possible before it gets too hot. The family that lives there isn’t sure how many puppies are in the hole but they think 8-9 puppies. They said they are about 1 1/2 weeks old the puppies. They will be going straight to the vet once we have them in our care. Donations for their care would be appreciated but we cannot confirm they are in our care until they are in our vehicle. These babies and mama deserve to be loved and cared for, and we will ensure that happens. I Helped Save

**update!! Eva and Pedro had a meet and greet yesterday, they will be going on a trial this week!** Thanks for all your shares! Eva & Pedro (Surrey B.C. Please... share!) They are looking for their forever home together. Their current foster has written up a small bio about each of them. thank you (Shaley Boese) Eva 1/2 Beagle 1/2 Dachshund Female 11.5 years. Eva is a sweet and loving girl who likes to cuddle. She is low energy and takes many naps a day. She is very loving with people she is familiar with and warms up quickly to new people. She isn't bothered by other dogs but prefers to play with her humans. She is very well behaved and has adapted easily to foster care. Pedro 1/2 Chihuahua 1/2 Dachshund Male 15yrs. Don't let this feisty little fella's age fool you. Pedro loves to play and is very food motivated. He loves being around the other dogs and is not shy with new people. He is low energy but has his play time several times a day - between naps of course. Pedro doesn't hear well but responds quickly to louder sounds and direction. These two definitely thrive being with each other. They get up to their own activities but check in with each other regularly. Both are very well behaved, take direction well and are fully house broken. They sleep peacefully through the night in their own area or with their humans. They are pretty low maintenance and really seem to appreciate everything that is done for them. I have thoroughly enjoyed being their foster mom and know that any less-active home would love having these two be a part of it. If you’re interested in meeting/adopting this sweet pair, please send me a message or fill out an application on our website. www.ihelpedsave.ca
