IIWR-MB stands in solidarity with the #BlackLivesMatter movement and communities working for justice in regards to the systemic oppression and violence experienced within our communities. We support those calling for action and encourage all our members and followers to take the time to listen, educate yourself and then act in solidarity alongside those leading these movements. We encourage those who can to contribute money to any of the following organizations. We also encou...rage everyone to share and amplify information, especially from Black voices. If you are in Winnipeg, there will be a Justice 4 Black Lives rally at the Manitoba Legislature on Friday, June 5th at 6 PM. The organizers will be posting calls to action each day leading up to the rally. Carefully read what the organizers have asked for in their description before engaging in this event. The first call to action reads: Educate yourself on how to be an ally every day. Share this poster far and wide. Print it off, post them wherever you can, let people know we’re here and not going ANYWHERE. We are ready to be peaceful, to be uplifted, loved, listened to, supported and most importantly to be heard. Today we launched our letter-writing campaign calling for a feminists response on our website. Head over to our website, find your MLA and send them your version of our pre-drafted letter explaining why an intersectional feminist approach is required for this crisis and beyond.
