How does Town of Midland celebrate the re-opening of our main street after months of construction? With Butter Tart Beer, of course! King Street, the street where we hold Ontario's Best Butter Tart Festival, has been under construction since the spring with the installation of a new watermain, sanitary and storm systems and road alignments. And congratulations to all involved as the project has been completed on-time and on-budget, all during a pandemic! The road is now re-opening and plantings will take place in the spring. We can't wait to hold our next festival on such a beautiful new street! Stay safe everyone and wash your hands! Downtown Midland
Congratulations to both Doo Doo's Bakery and Mike Demelo on your butter tart wins at the The Royal Agricultural Winter Fair! Both Doo Doo's (professional baker) and Mike (home/amateur baker) have take home ribbons from the butter tart contest as part of our festival. Hope to see all of you on June 12, 2021 in Town of Midland. https://fb.watch/1JniRIJXpR/

It's Camp Day! When you buy a hot or iced coffee at Tim Hortons, 100% of proceeds go to the Tim Hortons Foundation Camps to help positively impact the lives of youth from disadvantaged circumstances. Tim Hortons is an annual sponsor of Ontario's Best Butter Tart Festival and we thank them for their support of this and other activities in our community.
Hmm...the Picton Free Methodist Church might be on to something, wouldn't you agree? Wash your hands, wear a mask (when not eating butter tarts) and stay safe everyone! #ilovebuttertarts
Are you eager to go in search of some delicious butter tarts? Consider joining the Easter Seals Ontario's Butter Tart Tour on August 22. The tour will include two of our festival's butter tart vendors, Erika's Bakery and Don's Bakery Muskoka with proceeds supporting kids with physical disabilities.
Check this out! Anne, one of our past butter tart contest winning bakers, and her award-winning butter tarts have been featured in this Becel video. Nana B's Bakery has also been at our festival selling their award-winning butter tarts. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dACcamxjEgA
It’s Canada Day and I found myself without butter tarts in the house so I decided to bake a giant butter tart (recipe Canadian Living). Yum!
Happy Canada Day! Who will be enjoying delicious, quintessentially Canadian butter tarts today? While we can't gather together to celebrate, Town of Midland, Town of Penetanguishene, Township of Tiny and Township of Tay have partnered to present Virtual Canada Day in the Heart of Georgian Bay! Butter tarts at the Southern Georgian Bay Farmers Markets in Midland tomorrow! And don’t forget that the first 100 families who visit the Downtown Midland booth will receive a free Canada Day cookie decorating kit as part of the Virtual Canada Day Celebrations in the Heart of Georgian Bay. Please follow physical distancing guidelines when visiting the farmers’ market.
There will be butter tarts at the Southern Georgian Bay Farmers Markets in Midland on Sunday. After stopping by the market, be sure to visit our Downtown Midland merchants. Even though construction is happening, the businesses are still accessible from the sidewalks and lane ways.
Did you know that you can turn your love of butter tarts into a donation for Easter Seals Canada? Their #21TimesChallenge requires you to do something 21 times...we suggest baking 21 (or more) butter tarts or eating 21 butter tarts (maybe not all in one sitting)...and then you donate $21 to help Easter Seals Kids purchase essential equipment for children and youth with physical disabilities. Donations can be made here http://www.easterseals.org/21times/
Carla's Cookie Box, one of our butter tart vendors, is honouring the graduating class of 2020 while raising funds in support of MADD Canada. Tragically last August, Carla's brother, Paul Brizzi, was killed by an alleged drunk driver. She will be directing $5 from each Grad t-shirt purchased to MADD Canada. To purchase your t-shirt, visit https://carlacookiebox.com//grad-t-shirt-in-support-of-ma/
Even though our festival couldn't take place this year, we love that the residents of the Villa Retirement Lodge (Jarlette Health Services) held their own butter tart competition. Everyone in Town of Midland loves butter tarts!
