Mist Story ... A Humpback Whale adds its breath to the mists of the Great Bear Rainforest.

Here's a video version of my talk, Sprit Bears and other secrets of the Great Bear Rainforest. It's about an hour long and I hope you have the time to watch. This free talk was part of a series of photographic presentations sponsored by OFFBEAT, a company founded by photographic adventurers Paul Zikza and Dave Brosha and dedicated to leading you to creative photography opportunities in wild places. And I'm grateful to both PacificWild.org the Pacific Whale Foundation for letting me use some images like those I still hope to take.

This is Boss ... he's a big Spirit Bear who runs the river on Gribbell Island, on B.C.'s northern coast

Golden Girl ... I still can't get over how beautiful this coastal grizzly bear is. We hung out with her for a long time ... once she decided we weren't a threat. She dug up roots for an appetizer, settled in for salmon main course, then had a snack of wild crabapples, then got back in the water for more salmon.

Morning light ...

For quite a while I've just posted B+W landscapes here. But the truth is I love wildlife photography too ... my favourite authors as a kid were Gerald Durrell (My Family and Other Animals among many others) and Jacques Cousteau. I follow and love the work of many wildlife photographers. So I'm going to add my wildlife work here, with the intent of celebrating nature's gifts. I hope you enjoy it. This first one is Boss, a rare Spirit Bear, in B.C.'s Great Bear Rainforest. He's doing what bears do best ... getting fat for winter on west coast salmon.
