Happy Thanksgiving from us to you! Even tho thanksgiving is a little different this year due to the pandemic we are still very thankful. Thankful for family and friends and their safety during these times. We’re also thankful to all our frontline workers who are following new protocols to keep our staff and members safe.

World Mental Health Day Today we celebrate to end the mental health stigma all around the world. During this year when our daily lives have been affected due to the global pandemic, people with mental health conditions may be experiencing even greater social isolation than ever before. On top of that, the possibility of grieving the loss of a family member sometimes without saying goodbye or losing a job due pandemics economic impact. Due to history of past emergencies it’s expected that the need for mental health and psychosocial support will be at an incline throughout the months to come. This is why, now more than ever, we as a society need continue the conversation and end the stigma surrounding mental health for good.

Imagine Therapeutic Services is seeking individuals responsible for ensuring day to day support in a residential setting, which is provided to individuals with dual diagnosis/developmental disabilities by enhancing their quality of life and meeting the values and expectations of Imagine Therapeutic Services. As a Direct Care Counselor, you will responsible for maximizing health, safety and personal fulfillment of adults with dual diagnosis and developmental disabilities. The ...areas presently serviced are Sudbury, New Liskeard and Huntsville. Responsibilities: Assist clients to find a satisfying and purposeful place in the community by enhancing their quality of life and promoting personal growth. Foster community inclusion, assist with activities of daily living and may also assist with aspects of personal care. Be familiar with and consistent with the principals of Imagine Therapeutic Services’ Mission, Vision and Core values. To empower and care about our resident’s success. Teaching life skills that will be useful in the client’s life (cooking, cleaning, hygiene). To provide appropriate supports to ensure the health and safety of the people supported and ensure compliance to policies and procedures. To manage difficult behaviors with the support of co-workers and the clinical team. Required Qualifications: Completion of a Human Services Diploma (DSW, CYW, SSW and PSW) from a recognized Community College, or Applied Behavioral Analysis Diploma, or RPN, or University and 2 years of related experience. Up to date First Aid training. Training in CPI (willing to train). An acceptable criminal background check including a vulnerable sector check. A strong understanding of mental health and appropriate therapeutic responses is an extremely valuable asset. Computer proficiency, polished administrative skills and professional communication skills are required. Valid drivers license with clean drivers abstract. A fun day trip to artist Peter Camani’s art exhibit of The Screaming Heads. This summer and fall visitors are welcome to wander the trails on the artists property to get up close to his artwork which also includes a double-headed dragon and a warrior princess surrounding his home!
