What words does the ocean speak? How can people listen? What new ecologies may be forged through acts of active listening to the natural world? Stories of wreckage, salvage, migration, crossings, deaths and rebirths live in the ocean.... Stories too of fish and shells and corals and plants. With this piece I wanted to make a piece that addresses these questions and themes as an act of climate action while living through climate grief. - Caridad Svich, Playwright The last short play in the Eco-anxiety digital festival is A Letter From The Ocean featuring Clea Minaker and Warona Setshwaelo. This Is a poetic journey through the woods, to the ocean. It is an ode to where we have come from, what has been lost, and our incredible capacity as a species for love and beauty. Eco-anxiety is a series of short plays about our fraught relationship with the planet, or how to renew your love/hate relationship with humanity, or the world sucks: here’s some art about it. Absolutely Nothing Of Any Meaning, the next play in our Eco-anxiety digital festival, is absurdist comedy about our addiction to consumerism, our inability or unwillingness to see what is right in front of us, and the control global corporations have over our lives. Yesterday it was announced that in the United States, you can now get your prescription medication from Amazon. "Some questioned the wisdom of giving health data to a tech corporation...former Amazon executive James Thomson previously told BBC News he could imagine Amazon offering gym equipment, specific groceries or other products based on the health data of a particular customer."

When Britain’s prime minister, Theresa May, criticized climate action student walkouts as a waste of lesson time, Swedish high school organizer Greta Thunberg tweeted: That may well be the case. But then again, political leaders have wasted 30 years of inaction. And that is slightly worse. Why are so many of us guilty of inaction? - Sunny Drake, Playwright The next short play in the Eco-anxiety digital festival is Absolutely Nothing Of Any Meaning featuring Vlad Alexis an...d Eloi ArchamBaudoin. We welcome Chantal Bilodeau to our Eco-anxiety Talkback blog to share their thoughts on Absolutely Nothing Of Any MeaningShe is a Montreal-born, New York-based playwright and the Artistic Director of The Arctic Cycle, an organization that uses theatre to foster conversation about our global climate crisis, create an empowering vision of the future and encourage people to take action. "I buy a lot of stuff on Amazon.com, I’m ashamed to say. It’s fast. It’s convenient. It’s al...most always cheaper. And yet, I’m well aware that the company has an insane amount of power way too much for any one entity and that throughout the COVID pandemic, Jeff Bezos has shown how little he values his workers. And then there’s the overpackaging and the carbon emissions involved with delivering products all over the world within hours of ordering. But as I heard someone say recently, once you’ve bought something in your pajamas, there’s no turning back." Read her full Talkback at the link below. Absolutely Nothing Of Any Meaning is still available to rent until tomorrow night. Get your $5 rental at the link below. 50% of all box office revenue will go directly to the actors.
