Invisible Gorilla Series Continued What is The Risk of an Invisible Gorilla.. Ask an Actuary For those who may not be clear about what an actuary does a definition has been provided:... DEFINITION of 'Actuarial Risk' The risk that the assumptions that actuaries implement into a model to price a specific insurance policy may turn out wrong or somewhat inaccurate. Possible assumptions include the frequency of losses, the severity of losses and the correlation of losses between contracts. This post began as a question as to why the spill response industry has not had any progress in the way that major oil spills are cleaned up? To ask the question as to why no improvement in oil spill recovery statistics has occurred, to try and see why technological advances are being made to the point where we are testing self-driving cars and yet still trying to clean up oil spills the same way we did over 40 years ago, often with buckets and glorified paper towels. As this topic was researched the question about why an insurance company would be willing to write such large cheques and not demand a better way to recover their costs came up as it often has around the office at Imbibitive Technologies. The thought came to mind that perhaps the oil companies are self-insured, and sure enough, BP, the company responsible for the Deepwater Horizon spill, is self-insured through an offshore tax haven structure registered in Guernsey. It would appear that the actuaries would know what the best financial option is and that it is cheaper to let the oil float away than investing in a way to recoup their losses when they occur. This appears to be the only rational explanation when considered from a market perspective. That this is an acceptable level of risk and loss should an incident occur. As market participants tend to act in their own best interest it would appear that it is not in the company’s best financial interest to increase the ability to collect the spilled oil; that it is indeed cheaper to let the spilled oil float away and pay the fines when they occur. Below are links regarding BP’s insurance company for those are interested https://goo.gl/z1zMfX https://goo.gl/vtK6pz Imbibitive Technologies believes that while the risk may be acceptable to certain global companies, the cost that others have to pay is not acceptable. We have developed a technology to help reduce the impact oil spills have on others and the environment. To find out more please contact us. https://goo.gl/Sfa879

Invisible Gorilla Series Continued Media, Same Old Song, and Dance? The media provides great hype and in-depth coverage provided you have the attention span of a fly with ADD. But is it really their fault, they have bills to pay and advertisers pay for exposure and if exposure drops and ratings drop then it makes it hard to pay the bills. Once a story has been covered so insistently for a period of time people lose interest and it becomes history and not news, and there is v...ery little advertising revenue in a history textbook. But is the in-depth coverage just a greater look at a small part of the story; is the gorilla in the room being missed? People like exciting news where something is on fire, or people are rescuing wildlife or a human interest story. The story about slow-moving oil that floats away is just not exciting and doesn’t hold an audience’s attention, this, however, is where the greatest damage is being done to the environment; this is the invisible gorilla. For the past thirty to forty years statistics support that on average up to 90% of the oil that is released is not recovered; most people are not aware of this. Perhaps in this age of social media, we could be doing more to shape the stories and the way in which they are covered? If you agree that that the media could be covering more than the highlight reel we at Imbibitive Technologies would like to know, because our product Imbiber Beads has been designed and engineered to go out to capture and contain oil and chemical spills, reducing the impact that it has on people and the environment in a far more effective and eco-friendly way than has occurred in the past. Do you think that the media has the ability to influence policy on how cleanups are conducted? If people are aware of what is being missed do you think that policy could be affected, or do you think that that the juggernauts of industry that help to support the elected have a greater ability to keep cleanup policy the same? Like our page and share this series if you would like to see more than the highlight reel from the media.

See what 50% of people miss, the Invisible Gorilla Seeing the Invisible Gorilla is about selective attention and misdirection. In the video that has been posted below, you will see what nearly 50% of the people miss. While this is an entertaining video that makes a point, it is important to understand that this has been applied for years in the environmental clean-up and spill response industry at a huge cost to various economies and wildlife. The gorilla that people are ...missing is that 90% of most oil spills floats away. It doesn’t make very exciting media coverage to watch oil float away when compared to massive raging fires on the water where in-situ burning is occurring or people cleaning a beach or rescuing a bird or other wildlife. While it looks as though things are being done based on activity, very little real productive recovery work is being done. In this short series, you will get an insider’s look at the media, the spill response industry and what can be done with new technology if implemented. When you watch the video below you will see the gorilla because I have told you that it is there. After this short series, you also will be able to see what the media does show and what the spill response and major polluters don’t want you to see.http://www.imbiberbeads.com/site/contact-us https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vJG698U2Mvo

This is a series on Facebook developed by Imbibitive Technologies. Did you know that up to 90% of an oil spill from something like the Deepwater Horizon just floats away? The series looks at the role of the media in the spill response vs spill recovery question and asks why doesn’t the spill response industry have measurable collection standards.... At the end of the series, you will be able to able to have your questions answered by our President. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bhAdunOtdtQ
