Breastfeeding can play an essential role in the growth and development of the infant. Mother’s milk is the best source of nutrition for an infant and contains components that protect against infection and disease. ... PROTIENS Lactoferrin and Lysozyme are specific proteins in human milk that inhibit the growth of certain organisms in the GI tract, prevent against E.Coli and Salmonella infections, and promote the growth of healthy bacteria. VITAMINS: The vitamins received by the infant is directly related to the mother’s vitamin intake. Fat-soluble vitamins such as Vitamin A, D, E, and K are all found in milk. FATS: Long-chain fatty acids in milk are required for the development of the nervous system and can help with the absorption of fat-soluble vitamins. CARBOHYDRATES: Lactose is the primary carbohydrate in human milk and aids in calcium absorption by decreasing the number of unhealthy bacteria. Moreover, the mother’s milk MICROBIOME is rich in important bacteria that can colonize in the infants GI tract to support growth. This is Saransha. She is 10 years old. Her parents work a simple job with little income. They do not have a means of transportation out of their village so Saransha often has to walk 30 minutes in the heat to get to her school. Rashtrahit Vidyalae is a school established in an underprivileged area. Due to the low number of teachers and overflow of students each school day is split into 2 sessions. 200 kids come in for the first half of the day, and another 200 come in during ...the second half. In India, children of lower income families are often forced into the workforce at the early age of 10-12 to accompany their parents in manual labour jobs. The mission of this school is to direct these children towards education first, and that too completely free of cost. Help us support children like Saransha get an education.
