Do you think of New Years Eve as the day where possibilities are being ushered into our minds and whispered into our hearts? I do. And it can be kind of daunting and frightening to have all of these desires flood into your heart without a way to make them come to fruition. Unless...you have the right tools to do so. ... I’m curious -- do you feel like you have the right tools, the right people around you, and the right mindset to start moving towards your wildest goals and dreams?

Have you thought about what you need in your business lately? (Without looking right or left at what others in your business-space are doing?) Big question, right? How are we not supposed to look right to left, comparing ourselves to those in the same creative, business space as us?... Through alignment, that’s how. We can pause and think of what we’re seeking, what we desire, what we want to do in our businesses to serve others and ourselves. We can pause and believe in our strengths and build on top of those strengths, instead of trying to force the strengths of others into our businesses. We can pause and think of joy and what brings our clients, customers, and ourselves joy...and do more of those things. Thinking you’re not quite sure how to do the above? I hear you. When you think of what you do does it make you smile? What brings you joy? What talents do you believe you have been given? Which of your personality traits are you most thankful for? Does your business have soul? The heart of a business is one thing, the soul is an entirely different thing! WHY are you choosing to create this particular business in the first place? Imperfection is an art, and mastering it can be a blessing. If you keep waiting for the perfect time to start your creative business - then you're just stuck waiting! It’s more important to act than to wait for perfection because you’re going to learn and grow along the way. When you take action, you include others in your journey. The beautiful thing about social media, blogging, and the creative community is the raw stories that are being told. Those are the most inspir...ing! I’ve been on this journey for a decade and holy heck, if you saw the work that I was putting out ten years ago next to the work I put out today, you would laugh. I took down most of my early work, and I regret that a little bit. There’s growth to be seen, and celebrated in that work that started my journey as a photographer. Take it from me - There is art in imperfection, and you don’t have to have everything figured out. You don’t have to compare your beginning to somebody else’s middle or end or whatever the case may be. Just focus on being better than you were yesterday or last year or even what’s beautiful in the imperfection that is now. Just take action! Go after what you want and trust the process. A decade later and I still make mistakes, try new things, and fail all the time. But the truth is, failure is often the best teacher! Making an effort is so much more important than chasing down perfection. Stop chasing it. Pursue happiness, create from the heart, and allow yourself to make mistakes. Within that journey, a beautiful artist is going to be made.
