A beautiful obituary and tribute to Evan and Amanda Lodge was shared by the Lodge family today. All of us at the GHRA would like to extend our deepest sympathies to Gregson, Susan and Alyssa Lodge in this unimaginably difficult time for them. https://www.guelphtoday.com/o/lodge-evan-and-amanda-3623903
Did you do a double take? Surprise. CPR like many other railway companies had standard designs for stations used. Guelph was thought to have a unique CPR station design but surprise. Woodstock, NB had a similar station except a little bit longer in length.
A look back to the Guelph Junction Explorer which operated on the Guelph Junction railway here in town. A train we are sad to see gone!
"HERITAGE MOMENTS." Snapped on July 3, 1977, Credit Valley Railway 1057 (ex CPR), the last steam train to operate north of Guelph Junction on the Canadian Pacific Railway Goderich Subdivision is seen approaching the Regional Road 23 overpass just south of West Montrose, Ontario. Originating at Guelph just a short time earlier, this train was operated by the Ontario Rail Association to Goderich and return as a celebration of both Guelph and Goderich's 150th Anniversaries. Just 12 years later in 1989, the line north of Guelph would be abandoned, now part of the Kissing Bridge Trailway/Goderich to Guelph Rail Trail. Today 1057 resides at the South Simcoe Railway in Tottenham. Peter Raschke Photo, Jacob Patterson Collection slide.
