Thank you, Kraft Hockeyville, for providing such a positive focus over the last 3 months and for the support you are providing for the local arenas of the top 4 communities. Thank you too Elsipogtog First Nation, New Brunswick; Lumsden, Saskatchewan; and Saint Adolphe, Manitoba for working so hard for your communities and adding to the spirit of the competition. We hav...e all gained so much from this experience. Bobcaygeon very much appreciates that we now have $25,000 from Kraft Hockeyville to put towards upgrading our arena and $10,000 in brand new hockey equipment from the NHLPA Goals & Dreams Fund for deserving youth in the community. Our hearts are so full having experienced the amazing coming together of our community for such a positive experience. Not much to say, except that we’re super (insert expletive here) disappointed to be on the verge of yet another lock-up of small businesses. But at least they’...ve given us til Christmas so we’ll be here and open til we no longer can. We’ve extended our hours over these final few days and we’ll try to come up with a plan in the coming days for next week and beyond. We are THRILLED to report that the Bobcaygeon Bakery raised more than $3,500 for Women's Resources with their Gingerbread House Fundraiser! If you missed this,... award-winning baker Sarah Chomko (on the right, Sandi Langford on the left) recreated in gingerbread the downtown buildings in Bobcaygeon from 9 King Street East to the swing bridge on Bolton Street. It took her over 100 hours to create this magical gingerbread and icing village and then sponsors generously donated towards their favourite building. We are so very grateful for the outpouring of support from the bakery and the community. THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts. See more

Parks Canada advises that an accessible pedestrian bridge is in place across Lock 32 in Bobcaygeon, to enable pedestrian access to and from the downtown during the temporary swing bridge closure. Businesses on both sides of the bridge remain open. Public safety is a priority for Parks Canada. The pedestrian bridge and its access paths will be maintained throughout the winter months and additional lighting has been put in place. The lock gates will not be maintained as a public canal crossing, and access will be restricted. Residents and visitors, on foot and by vehicle, are advised to follow detour signage and to exercise caution. See photo for access path route.
