If you’re downtown this week, check out this amazing exhibit featuring work by youth from Impact Construction and Choices for Youth’s Art+Design Program. NL Public Libraries and CFY have collaborated to create the New Travelling Library Project which will bring local books to seniors living in care. Youth from Impact built the boxes by hand, which provided training opportunities for using tools and woodworking skills.... Youth artists from the Art+Design program turned then turned the boxes into amazing works of art that are inspired by life in Newfoundland! Altogether the project has created paid training and employment for 15 youth! Thanks to the Craft Council of Newfoundland and Labrador for hosting this exhibit until Dec 23! We’re so grateful to celebrate the completion of the 48 Cashin Avenue project, which will provide 5 units of supportive, affordable housing for young families. Thanks to April and James for joining the event and sharing their experience working on the project. We’re so proud that they’re both in post-secondary and moving ahead in their careers!

*NOW RECRUITING YOUTH 16-29* This unique Art & Design program pairs young people with professional artists to produce beautiful pieces of work and explore what it means to be a working artist in Newfoundland and Labrador. No prior experience necessary (although it doesn’t hurt!) our only requirement is an interest in working and learning. Choices For Youth is offering this supportive, paid training program to assist youth who want to build their skills to move into competit...ive employment or post-secondary education. If someone you know is interested in learning more about this opportunity or other supportive programs we offer, you'll want to attend this Open House! The next event is taking place on Tuesday, October 27th 2020 at our Social Enterprise Hub 117 Ropewalk Lane, St. John’s by appointment only. Our supportive, paid training program assists youth aged 16-29 who want to build their skills to move into competitive employment or post-secondary education. ... If someone you know is interested in learning more about this opportunity or other supportive programs we offer, you'll want to attend our upcoming recruitment event. We've implemented robust safety protocols for these events and they are now by appointment only with limited capacity for each time slot to allow for safe social distancing on site. The next event is taking place on Thursday, September 17th, 2020 at our Social Enterprise Hub. You don't need to bring anything other than yourself and be sure to be on time for your assigned time slot. We'll have staff on site to help with any questions you have. Unfortunately, those currently receiving EI are not eligible for our supportive training program.
