Despite the heat we have had for the last 2 weeks, it was fun being a part of these Parkade Ramp Repair projects at the University of Regina. This project required that all previous paint and corrosion was to be removed from the structural steel prior to the application of a new paint coating system, and galvanized steel Grating. Since these ramps are in close proximity to housing, parks, walkways, and roadways we had to keep the dust contained and the public safe. A fire left the inside of this 60,000 sq. ft. building covered in carbon and soot. Our Dry Ice Blasting equipment was used to clean everything from structural steel and overhead cranes, to foil back insulation and ventilation ducting. Since Dry ice sublimates on impact there is no secondary waste to cleanup. Because it is a dry process it is safe to use around electrical components and other sensitive surfaces. We restored this Douglas Fir Timber Frame Home using our Dry Ice Blasting equipment. We were able to remove weather staining and 3 coats of stain without damaging the wood. We were called in after a fire inside this 10,000 sq ft warehouse to remove all traces of smoke and soot, followed by re-painting the entire interior. We removed the old paint and smoke using a combination of Dry Ice Blasting and Sandblasting. This building is as good as new after received new paint, siding, insulation, windows, doors, and lighting. Our Wet Abrasive Blasting Crew was in Downtown Saskatoon for the past few weeks removing interior paint from the brick, beams, ceiling and columns of this 6 story 100+ year old heritage building. Wet Abrasive is gentler on soft surfaces and has far less dust than traditional sandblasting. I have huge respect for this crew of guys and the hard work and overtime they put into this project. They put in over 250 man hours (all working overhead) removing paint from 7200 square feet of ceiling in this old warehouse using Wet Abrasive Blasting. Paint was removed from the beams, posts, and ceiling using over 7000 lbs of crushed glass. Cleanup consisted of scrubbing and dusting the wood followed by the removal of over 3 tons of blast media that had to be carried up a s...et of stairs. Our process eliminates most of the dust and therefore made it possible to work alongside other trades with minimal interruption. Prior to receiving a new coat of paint, we cleaned this 16,000 sq ft machine shop using our Dry Ice Blasting equipment. We were able to remove accumulated dirt, dust, oil, grease, and bird droppings from every surface of the building as well as multiple overhead cranes and foil back insulation without damage. -Heritage Restoration Project Saskatoon- We have been busy for the last few weeks helping to restore the interior of this old warehouse built in 1927 by removing paint and plaster from the beams, columns, ceiling and brick. Here is the completed 285’ tall weather/communications tower we painted near Grenfell Sk. It consists of over 300 pieces, each of which has been galvanized using the hot dip method, primed for maximum paint adhesion and then painted with Cloverdale Paints International Orange and White to comply with FCC visibility laws. A late night fire inside this car dealership left every interior surface covered in soot. Here we are using our Dry Ice Blasting units to clean the ceiling, structural steel and walls. Dry Ice Cleaning quickly removes the soot, melted plastics, burnt rubber and scorched paint from over 10,000 sq ft of building.
