For discouraged preachers and church planters: You cannot keep everyone happy all the time. You may preach with great sensitivity and still step on some toes. When it comes to preaching, you are not called to keep multiple plates spinning where each plate is the emotional happiness of key people in your life: the board of the church, the key political figure in the church, the most sensitive person in the church. It isn’t even to keep other big supporters of your ministry happy. Your goal is to love the Lord radically and seek to please Him. https://biblicalpreaching.net//5-pointers-for-the-discour/

Here is a fantastic update from Tim Cook and Karen Cook on our new church plant in the Halifax, NS region. Please continue to pray for church multiplication there! Here is a snippet of what is going on at Impact Christian (IC) this Spring: Our new website impactchristian.ca and Facebook page are both very active. We are seeing increased activity on each and we thank you for helping us by sharing" and liking. Most of what goes during the week is posted on the Facebook page... and that's the best place to keep up-to-date. We are serving in our community. This Saturday, several of us will be receiving training at The HELM a centre which helps those trapped in addiction find restoration, purpose and direction. Soon, they will have residents on site and you will need to have taken this training in order to serve at the center. We have been working alongside Athletes in Action athletesinaction.ca and are planning a week-long basketball camp for children in the community on either the week of July 12th or 19th. Plans are coming together for this and the gym should be confirmed soon. We are learning. Discovery groups are active. There is a group of men that meet on Saturdays at noon, another group of four on Tuesday mornings and a third group of four women that meet over zoom on Wednesday evening. These are same gender groups of 3-5 that get together on their own schedules. In most cases, they start with going through a study called How to Trust and Follow Jesus. We have leaders guides and participant guides on hand when others would like to start a group. Our desire is that these groups multiply after a season together so disciples are making disciples. There are four people from IC taking courses at Maritime Christian College and they are all related to making disciples. We are meeting together. We have been having a weekly meal together where we eat, pray, take the Lord’s Supper and lately, have a time of worship with a guitar. We have been going through the book of Romans though a Discovery Bible Study. Currently we have been meeting on Saturday evenings, but sometimes we will meet on alternate evenings or a Sunday morning. In order to stay within current COVID-19 guidelines we have had to keep the numbers at a maximum of fourteen. When we have more than fourteen, we just make two times available. We are planning for our Easter celebrations. On Good Friday, we will gather to have a time of reflection of Matthew 27:45-52. Easter Sunday, we are having a gathering at 2pm using Halifax Christian Church's facility. Our praise team has been practicing and the message will be called Comfort Rising- from Romans 3. We are looking forward to warmer weather and hanging out together camping, hosting BBQs and pool parties. We will be inviting new friends, relatives, co-workers and neighbours to join us in growing Impact Christian. Blessings Pastor Tim Cook www.impactchristian.ca

It’s Friday, but Sunday is coming! Luke 23:44-46 (ESV) It was now about the sixth hour, and there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour, while the sun's light failed. And the curtain of the temple was torn in two. Then Jesus, calling out with a loud voice, said, Father, into your hands I commit my spirit! And having said this he breathed his last.... Thank you Jesus for your sacrifice - you paid the price, so that we can all live!

This is a good article about Toronto’s multicultural context and how to embrace that diversity. https://www.challies.com//learning-to-thrive-as-a-diverse/
