The first ever digital version of Peek Fest has come to an end! Because we went digital, we were able to share with local, provincial, national and even international artists. The 4 workshops were dynamic and engaging, and the performances showcased many emerging and established artists's exciting new work. We also had our first family oriented festival programming this year with Wee Peeks: a variety show for wee ones. We are so pleased to have Tiffany Tjosvold on board as ou...r Accessibility Coordinator for the first time, and were intrigued by the many accessibility measures that become attainable when using online platforms. Overall, this Festival was a delightful success and celebrated creation, performance, connection, and exploration. Stay tuned for information about Peek Fest 2021! We stand in solidarity with our Black and Indigenous communities. We have not done enough. Impulse Theatre is growing. We are aware of some of our blindspots, discovering new ones everyday, and keeping anti-racism and decolonization at the forefront as we grow our foundation. Arts organizations, like us, are part of a lineage of gatekeeping, oppression, and white supremacy. We will fight it. We will learn. We will step aside when it’s not our turn. We won’t stand idle. We... will work to amplify and support oppressed and repressed artists. We will do what we can to hold space for Black and Indigenous joy. Our inbox is open at [email protected]. PEEK SHOW 8 APPLICATIONS DUE APRIL 15 Impulse Theatre seeks five-to-six new works to join us for Peek Show 8 on Saturday, May 23. Twice annually Impulse Theatre showcases new works from local performing artists, from text, to dance, to somewhere in-between. Peek Show fosters creative connections between Victoria's performing artists and audiences, and sparks momentum within the community.... We are exploring alternative methods of showcasing and supporting the selected projects incase we are unable to physically gather (did anyone say liiiivestream?), but we feel it's important to continue the development of the live performance works in the community.
