At our member school @brocktonschool this week, they featured the efforts of their Junior School students in the Gift of Giving campaign. @brocktonschool would like to thank their Junior School Homeroom and Art classes for the creative and colorful cards they’ve made to send to isolated seniors in our community. The student-led Community Action Team for Social Responsibility (CAT-SR) launched this initiative at the beginning of this month and they’ve been learning about t...he impact COVID-19 has had on our seniors’ population. In the New Year, the CAT-SR will continue in their efforts to care for our elders, and raise awareness in our community. Oh what fun! The Junior School students at our member school @st._johns_school welcomed a special visitor this morning. Mrs. Claus and her supportive reindeer dropped in from the North Pole to say hello. Mrs. Claus stopped by to lend a hand to her good friend Ms. Dha, the Junior School Counsellor. She provided each class with their own wellness kit. The kits contain a variety of aids that help students maintain their emotional health. Every Friday afternoon students in Grades 5 to 9 at our member school @aspengroveschool take part in Exploratories - activities that cover a variety of opportunities, from hiking to art, magic club and yoga, community service, and many more. The opportunities change every 10 weeks, and vary from year to year. They are a chance for students to expand their horizons and take on new challenges - and a great way to end a busy week! Are we inadvertently harming our houseplants with common household cleaners? One of @st._johns_school Grade 12 students is on the case for his Biology Internal Assessment. The experiment he designed uses everyday cleaning items like hand sanitizers, multi-purpose cleaners and bleach as the variable. Over the next two weeks, he will apply these solutions to a specific type of houseplant he selected to test and will monitor the impact on the health and growth patterns. The objective behind World Mental Health Day is keeping in view the mental challenges faced by people and realizing that in some countries people are not given the opportunity to analyze their mental illnesses.
