Trail Map referencing local names and important information With the increase in popularity of the Kittiwake Snowmobile Association's groomer post, their is also an increase in Trail users who are not familiar with the local names in these post. When referencing grooming locations, such as 32 Branch, The Gate, etc., those from outside the area are at a lost With major help from Paul Vincent (obtained the map and trail layout, suggested adding loading ramps and gas station...s), Les Kean and Lorne Welcher (suggested names and reviewed map details), and permission from app developer Bryan Taylor to use the map taken from his app (http://snowtrailsnl.com/, which was created here in Central, and should be downloaded for anyone using the Trail system), we have come up with the map below. This map is for reference-purposes only and is based on snowmobile usage/parking areas. The map, along with the Trail signs we have up, plus the app and/or other maps you may have, should provide you a safe and enjoyable Trail experience in our area. Thanks to everyone who helped create this

Flooding in Indian Bay & throughout the Watershed Images taken April 12th and 13th showing the impact of flooding throughout the Town of Indian Bay and surrounding areas. Washouts, homes being sandbagged, extremely high water levels, and road/Park closures. Thanks to Karen Parsons & Eli Parsons for taking the Indian Bay during the sandbagging yesterday. All other taken today showing damage to the Trail system or high water levels during our scouting trip. Old Road is pas...sable and not in to bad of shape (minus a couple areas). Once through the Gate you're getting into softer areas, and once you reach Moccassin Pond the snow was to deep to go any further (side by side or truck can't get through it). Was able to reach #2 Pond (cabins) although road is very soft. All areas of damage will be worked on in the near future in one way or another (yet to be determined). Several groups working on this so as the work progresses we'll share it with the public. Not all areas have been checked, but will be as soon as possible. Please use caution when travelling throughout the Trail system!

Major flooding and infrastructure damage in the Watershed and on Trail system throughout the area. Video taken at Adurt Brook crossing at 37 Branch. Road is impassable. Please avoid travel on all areas of the Trail system, as there are other washouts and areas have not yet been checked for additional damage.

Repurpose and reuse. Rope turned into artwork. Rope collected from our cleanups in Cape Freels, and other sources, is being turned into artwork by Duke Kelloway and the team at Norton's Cove Studio. By IBEC supplying Duke with rope, Norton's Cove has donated half of the proceeds of sales for these mats to our continuing efforts of cleanup and education regarding our Cape Freels Species At Risk Project, based in Cape Freels. By buying these mats, you directly help with these ...cleanups and support local business. If you would like to donate used rope to this cause, feel free to drop it off at the IBEC office during regular business hours. Visit https://nortonscove.com/ to check out the mats in the online store! Thank you to Duke, Janet and the entire Norton's Cove Studio team for your support! #ibec #watershed #newfoundland #explorenl #theshore #eccc #shorebirds #conservation #tourism #bonavistanorth #partnerships #artwork #recycling #newwesvalley

Took some time yesterday to walk Heritage Trail in Indian Bay, along the Indian Bay River. Great way to explore nature and get some exercise, especially with the mild Winter so far in the area. We took this time to record areas along the trail that will require some work this Spring, such as downed trees and brush removal, to assist the Town of Indian Bay with lengthening and improving the Trail experience for users. #trail #ibec #forest #salmon #salmonriver #hiking #explorenl #theshore #indianbay #nature #outdoors
